I like my sons 7mm-08 that I want to trade him. Shot my only deer this year with his gun.

That’s good to hear. Just bought my 9yr old son a Ruger American Compact in 7mm-08. I put a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x50 on it. I plan on using it myself when he’s not with me.

My wife shoots a Marlin .30-30,best deer on our wall is hers,190 lb 11 point. She’s killed 15 with it,never missed one and they never run more than 20 yards. Her longest shot was 165 yards.I wanted to get her a youth model 7mm-08 bolt action and she saw she didn’t want it,likes her 30-30.

I bought 4lsu2jr a 7-08 Ruger American Compact a few years ago when he was 3ish. He’s 7 now. He and I hunted with it a few times last season and he never got a shot. I took it on an out of state trip last season as a back up gun and ended up hunting with it the first morning being that I was set in a climber. I took a doe with it at 50 yards and was impressed with the outcome The first sit. I ended up hunting with it the entire trip and took 3 shots with 3 dead in track kills hunting in a river bottom.

Hornady 139 grain SST.
