Worry about you

Any doctor prescribing these type of medications to children should have their license taken away immediately. Adderall is an amphetamine, and meth is methamphetamine, the two work very similar to each other. Putting a child on this is egregious and is a black eye on our entire society.

Not here. Never will I. That’s just wrong. The cage and leash works fine.

We put our 8 yr old on adhd meds last year. We had no choice, it was suggested a year earlier and we tried everything to not do meds: change diet, extra activity, different types of therapy for kids with adhd. Nothing worked, and eventually we had too. The difference was night and day, but he still has a lot of trouble with focus, but the meds make it manageable, and he functions much better at school.
It was also suggested for his older brother, but through diet, exercise, we manage him and he is fine.
I think too many kids who are like my oldest are put on meds when it is not needed; however, there are some who absolutely need it, and when you have one you know. It is not just for convenience, but he was miserable. He knew he was not focusing and just could not control it, and it was taking a very bad toll.

Meth heads do the same thing. It’s the effects of the speed they are on and is due partly to lack of sleep, again caused by the stimulants. Also tolerance is built up to these type of drugs super quickly. One can’t just say, oh we will put little Braxxton on 10 mg of adderall... because after 6 months the drug will have zero effect and the dose will have to be upped.

My Middle son had anxiety in kindergarten, I took him to the doctor and she tried to prescribe a medicine that was not approved by the FDA for children that young. When I questioned its safety she told me-- "I do it all the time".
Years later, he grew out of the anxiety, and it was determined he was exceptionally bright. If I had been like other Moms and walked out with that medicine, it would have slowed him down and hindered his ability to do all of the things he's done. ( Dean's list 4 years straight, Presidential Achievement award for academic excellence)
I get it, parenting is difficult, and sometimes our kids have challenges that take extra time. My story shows that they are well worth the effort.

anyone who does is committing child abuse now and sentencing society to disaster later

Yea I’m pretty sure I can tell you that and I can tell you don’t smoke.
I smoke daily and I’m a very productive individual. I bet I can hold my breath longer than you,out run And work you! It’s not addictive, it can be habitual though. It’s doesn’t cause any paranoia for me nor does it make me anxious. I use it like coffee when need be and as a sleep aid when need be.
I bet you probably had a scotch in your hand as you typed this. Let’s talk about how alcohol is accepted but after too many drinks, you become an alter.
I can smoke 6 joints back to back and still be in my right mind to hold a conversation, can you do that after 6 drinks?
Alcohol is far worse than pot.
He didn’t say anything about alcohol. This sounds like one big denial diatribe.

Bless your heart. This thread is chock full of TD Karens.

Look up the similarities of adderall and meth as far as the way they work in the body. Very similar.
Posted on 5/23/20 at 10:38 am to Errerrerrwere
If adderall was beer meth would be hard liquor.

What was he supposed to be focusing on?

Adderall and other stimulants medicines we use are in the same family but act differently than cocaine or methamphetamine. Primarily on the specific receptors each targets. It doesn’t matter though because once vyvanse stops figuring out ways to keep its patent it will be all anyone gets, but this is in general the way of pharmacology. Drug is found, drug is improved but abused, smart person makes boatload perfecting popular medicine to the safest, most widespread applicable, and and least a abusable extent. Why is everyone so worried about the safety issue? It’s been trialed to the moon and back and it’s safe. Your question should really be if it’s needed

Meth is way more similar to adderall than it is cocaine.

What can you tell me Adderall? The compounds used to create if? Ratios? Blood levels onset times peak levels interactions? The way stimulants work in people who’ actually need them and the pharmacology of how it works? If you can do it accurately and understand it I’ll feel like I should take the time to type out what pure methamphetamine made with rat poising slammed into your veins is different than 20mg of adderall.

I know this thread comes across as me shilling for these things but I don’t even see children or patients for ADD. I do not like it as a first line indication and until recently only FDA approved one, the thing is parents should most definitely get their children in therapy before medicine but that has nothing to do with its safety and all to do with teaching how to cope without it. Stimulants are safe and very effective when used appropriately for good reasons.

Ask someone who has done adderall, meth, and cocaine and then get back to me about which is more similar to what. Also ask them about the similarities in effects (both positive and negative) in meth and adderall.

Because you get 500.00 per kid until they are
18 because you sell pills each month and get another, ie. 2 kids 1000.00 60 pills each x2 120 pills per mo average 10.00 each, 1,200.00 + 1000.00 2,200.00 minus not much doc vist & plus cost of script = ALOT OF MONEY. So I have know clue how many do this vs give to kids. Society probably better off selling pills not given to children but both are prevalent. Sick World
