How is this movie? It's $4 on Amazon right now and I have insomnia.

(BTW, yes this is the Hitler movie)

I thought it was amazing. It was the only Hitler movie I've ever seen that made you feel like you were sitting there watching the real thing

It's an excellent film though there are some who argue that it's one of the most sympathetic films portraying Hitler which I don't completely buy. I think it does humanize him at times though.

Definitely worth a watch if WW2 interests you.

It's as good a foreign language film as there is.

The scene with Goebbels children is one of the most gut wrenching things I ever sat through.

It sets the bar. It blows all of the other movies about the final days of Hitler (The Bunker, Hitler's Last Ten Days, etc.) out of the water then bitch slaps them back to 1945. It's worth the 4 deutschmarks.

Will echo the other posts here.

Hitler and the Nazis are not abstract villains here, they are not caricatures, they don't represent an "idea".

They are portrayed simply as politicians and generals in the waning days of a military defeat. While the acting is truly great, the perspective granted here is the real draw. If this was about any other political group at any other time in history it would be an uneventful but fairly good movie.
