Repeat after me...OMB...must get him at all costs.

That's with a lockdown too.
Too many chicken littles on this board that think if it's more deadly than the flu that it means it's the black death.
Flu ain't that bad, and something that's twice as deadly as the flu isn't too bad either.
Blame Covid's kill count mostly on Cuomo and NY who forced nursing homes to take in covid positive patients.

Is it appropriate to compare something that is likely a "maximum" event to an average?
How does this "maximum" compare to the most recent "maximum" flu season?
What's the maximum for a flu season?

I get those numbers are likely inflated, but if 30% aren't really related to Wu Flu, it is at least on par with the normal flu, right?
the "standford study" had multiple methodology issues described many times on this board
covid19 mortality won't be >1% but it will end up being worse than seasonal flu.
problem is you cant argue this without mouth-breathers screeching "WORTH SHUTTING THE ECONOMY DOWN???"
its possible to simultaneously hold the opinions this is worse than the flu and we shouldn't have shut everything down and especially not for this long

Shocking . The people that amplified and ginned up the hysteria of this need to pay. They've wrecked the economy for nothing.

If so, Trump went along with it. They must have fooled him.
They certainly backed him into a corner. His early comments on it didn’t help. But the early advice and planning from the CDC was absolutely atrocious. I would hope that many people retire from the CDC as a result of root cause analysis of what went so wrong there.

This was all planned by the Dems to take down Trump because they cannot win in November.
It does seem to be a last ditch effort to stop the investigations into their deep state corruption. If Trump wins, the prosecutions will come "fast and furious".

We could wipe out the national debt if we took Fauci on a tour and people paid to kick him in the nuts.

Not if your a chicken little and think the seasonal flu is the benchmark for shutting things down.

The media toting his water for this is unconscionable

Imagine the deaths from flu if there was no vaccine. Now imagine the number of covid deaths after there is a vaccine.
Covid hysteria killed the economy

One of those things is absolutely true and the other is almost certainly true.

Going down the rabbit hole a bit here: does the flu vaccine reduce flu mortality?

It's all an estimate anyway...
2017-2018 was the worst flu season recently, estimate of 61,000 deaths, with the lower estimate at 46,000 and the upper at 95,000.

Because I know your style, I’m going with no and now I’m going to go grab a snack.
Wait. No because you can’t die of the flu if you don’t have the flu. You can die of covid19 if you don’t have covid19 though. It’s that bad.

When this is all said and done (if we ever get an unbiased analysis of it all), they may find that Covid is significantly more virulent than influenza for the elderly and high risk people, significantly less virulent for everyone else. Which could make sense due to the fact that the elderly and high risk are more likely to receive the seasonal influenza vaccine.
Edit for clarity: Covid may be more virulent than influenza in elderly because they have some immunity (via vaccine) for flu, but no immunity (no vaccine) for Covid. So even if Covid turned out to be equal or less virulent than influenza in low risk groups, it could still have a worse impact on high risk groups.

Are we going to blame the flu vaccine for this?
They are also more likely to be Vitamin D deficient with weaker immune systems in general.
People in big cities are also likely to be Vitamin D deficient since the buildings block out the sun and they have fewer open spaces in which to spend their time.

So, as of now, we're pretty much on par with a bad flu season then, right?

This is a different "Stanford study," is it not?
Also, wasn't that original one adjusted and published after peer review?
I think the Santa Clara study was the truly bad one.
