An Alabama “big time” offer for these very highly rated Louisiana kids did not result in the development that would lead them to the next level. All had lackluster careers in Tuscaloosa and there exists the possibility that had they chosen a different college, their football development would have led them to greater success in the their post-college years. Those 5* players like Cam Robinson, Landon Collins and Eddie Lacy (all recruited to UA with illegal inducements) were already with significant talent that they would have succeeded anywhere, with or without proper development.

Most of these names are already unrecognized by most people, even though they were very highly rated. Their careers at Alabama were undistinguished and their pro careers nonexistent or limited at best. This fact should be made known to every high school player considering Alabama.

Luther Davis
Robby Green
Kenny Bell
Darrington Sentimore
Bradley Slyve
Tim Williams
Raheem Falkins
O. J. Smith
Cam Sims
Hottie Jones
Daylon Charlot
Shyheim Carter
Phidarian Mathis
Chris Allen
Joseph Bulovas

This is a good post.

I've been thinking about the same thing for years.

maybe we want those kinds of players to go to Alabama. We were probably better off without them, so why make in known before considering a1abama.

It will be particularly useful to see how a list like this looks going forward. I say this because with our new offense and our excellent player development (Justin Jefferson, for example), and our success getting players drafted and successful in the NFL LSU has such a good story to tell that I suspect nearly all great in-state players would want to be at LSU. We have it all going for us right now, so let's see if the number of defections goes down over the next few years.

Geaux Tigers!!

How tf are you gonna include Allen when he’s going to be a starter this year and still has 2 years of eligibility?...

Saban recruits some of these guys not to develop them but to keep them from us. The added depth is a bonus. It's no secret Bryant used to over-recruit to do the same to Auburn. Saban is limited in how much he can do it with today's scholarship limitations (thank goodness), but he absolutely considers it.

For instance, he can have a 5* DT from wherever who he knows will be the starter, and will take the 4* from LA for depth rather than the 4* from somewhere else because he gets his depth regardless and it forces LSU to take a 3* a little lower on their board. In essence, it doesn't hurt Alabama to under-develop out of state depth, but it does hurt his immediate competition. It's a luxury he has by being able to attract almost anybody he wants.

One thing that resonated when Orgeron was hired was that he was going to "flip the script" on recruiting. I think he's well on his way to doing that. There's been fewer misses the last couple years. We're definitely bringing in more elite out of state talent. Now let's hope we continue to lock up the 4 or 5 must gets in-state. If we continue to keep the Roys, Guillorys, and Maason Smiths from leaving, there will be no more 8 year skids.

Luther Davis Zero trouble teammate
Robbie Green sits the bench at LSU
Kenny Bell would have played about the same minutes he played at Bama
Sentimore another Zero, trouble
Slyve never hits the field at LSU
Williams would have played at LSU two year starter
Falkins never hits the field. Maybe at the goal line
Smith.. ZERO
Hootie Jones backup at LSU
Cam Sims bench warmer at LSU
Charlot never plays at LSU
Carter Backup at LSU
Mathis to early to tell. I believe he's a backup at LSU
Chris Allen looks like a player if he gets well.
Bulovas wash out
Devonta Smith made the right choice. reason why? He may not have gotten the same snaps at LSU
Eddies Lacy LSU wanted no part of this player. How Alabama kept him eligible for three years is proof that Bama cheats like no University.

The two top players LSU lost to Alabama were Landon Collins, and Cam Robinson. Both players in my opinion helped Bama get over the top against LSU, and also win championships for Bama. Landon Collins was feared on a football field, and in the Bama locker room.

Dylan Moses too early to tell, but so far he looks like Tarzan, and plays like Jane. I like his replacement in Phillips for the Tigers. I promise you, Queen will have a better NFL career than Moses.

I think a lot of the reason Saban recruits this area heavily is to keep them away from us.

Surprised no one mentioned Denzel Devall. Big loss when we he want to Bama from Bastrop. He started at Bama but fizzled out the league quickly

most of those guys on that list just were never going to be very good no matter where they went. Very marginal players. Bama couldn't turn them into top level players any more than LSU or anyone else could have. Its seems to be more of a problem of evaluation than of development. LSU has been pretty good at evaluating these marginal type players in Louisiana while Bama hasn't been.

I don't think the lack of the development will deter these guys from going there as much as Ed O committing to locking down our back yard. One of his big goals early on was making it a point to keep these guys instate.
