On right now on FS1. Hogan-Andre, Savage-Steamboat. Ventura and Gorilla on commentary. Good stuff. I don’t watch wrestling anymore, but this was my childhood.

It's simply stunning at how jacked up that crowd was and entertaining even the mid card matches were.
Real heels versus good guys and managers who interfered and served a real purpose. And the guys weren't flying around the ring all the time either, but the matches were way more entertaining than now.

It was pretty sad watching JYD v Harley Race at the end of their careers, they could hardly move.

Damn Bob Eucker as a color man with Gorilla Monsoon. I totally forgot how great the old time commentary was.

They were simpler but they told the story of heel vs face a lot better than the more athletic matches of today.

Gorilla Monsoon is the GOAT

I remember Hogan saying he was a nervous wreck because he was never quite sure Andre was actually going to let him bodyslam him.

Yes, yes...everything was better in your day....a story as old as time itself

They go into it on the Andre documentary on HBO.
If you’ve never seen it, I highly suggest it.

another episode of Dark Side of the Ring starts in 5 minutes on VICE. Tonight’s episode is the Road Warriors

I haven’t seen them yet, but it sounds like Jesse Ventura for WM.

The Attitude Era may be universally deemed as the greatest period in the sport, but the age of wrestling during the first few wrestlemanias was wrestling in its purest form.

Looking forward to that. I don’t get Vice but they show up on YouTube pretty quick.
The last Road Warriors documentary is almost 20 years old. It was made not too long after Hawk died and was done by the WWE, so of course more sanitized.

It's crazy how in the early days of pro wrestling they really did treat it like a real major sporting event.
That all sorta ended once they basically admitted kayfabe.

Harley’s problem was injuries, as he had been semi-retired around then before he joined the WWF to recoup money lost when his investment in the Kansas City territory went tits up.
JYD? Buffets and eight balls. He was never a great wrestler or in good condition to begin with but his appetites, in both senses, turned him into the “Junk Food Dog” as he became known.

I’d love some old stone club era WWF

This has been pretty fun to watch tonight. I was too young for WMIII to remember much of what happened, but I still remember nearly all of these guys on the card. I'm not sure I could name 5 current wrestlers.
