Chicago, of course, could have had Patrick Mahomes or Deshaun Watson and didn’t have to trade up to No. 2 overall to get either one of them. In fact, the Bears likely didn’t need to trade up to get Mitchell Trubisky either, but they did anyway.
Watson now has weighed in on the subject as re-dos of the 2017 draft are everywhere.
“The Bears NEVER ONCE talked to me [before the draft],” Watson wrote on Twitter on Friday night.

Ever since Pace left the saints, the bears have made terrible personnel decisions and the saints have great ones.

Watson is far more developed than Trubisky. Watson will be a franchise QB for years to come. Trubisky may not last a year

A lot of scouts were high on Trubisky. My only problem was moving up one spot. Not sure many saw Mahomes becoming what he was. I’m not sure Watson is as good as he’s made out to be. Trubisky just didn’t pan out. The trading up one spot for it makes it dumb. Otherwise just unlucky.
