The speckled trout bite is trash (Orange Beach, AL)

Any of you baws in this area having better luck catching trout than me? I did pretty good over here a few months ago fishing the usual holes in front of docks and grass beds, but can’t catch anything right now. One of the locals suggested waiting until dark and fishing the lights. This time of year is usually good for inshore fishing over here what gives?

Heading out to Shell Beach/Hopedale on Thursday hoping to get some in the boat. Mild winds coming in from the east, so should be interesting.

Fish shallower. Fish a moving tide. Match the hatch.
The big girls will be in 1-2' of water near a food source (grass flat, bayou, dock)
I live in the panhandle. Last month they were eating rain minnows. This month they're eating LY
Mobile Bay can be a fickle fishery. The fish move a lot. Place is loaded with fish but they can be hard to find.

Fish the Ft Morgan beach at daylight with top water plugs. Then move to live Shrimp if you have them about 8 am. You can usually catch them there in May and June to early July.

This. This time of year they're eating small, small bait.

My neighbor did pretty well under the 98 bridge both Friday and Saturday until the wind picked up. As soon as the breeze picked up the bite turned totally off.

I grew up there and was back recently. The trout bite is on fire. Where were you fishing?

Bump for any updates on the fishing in Orange Beach.
My boy is a fishing fanatic and we will be in that area starting this weekend. He's got it all figured out here in both fresh and brackish water, but doesn't know as much about surf fishing.
Our condo is on the beach, but across the street is the bay with a pier, etc. He will fish both sides as well as try for crabs on the bay side.
Any tips?

Does anyone ever buy a NR fishing license when staying for vacation?

I'm assuming you do not?

Here now. I did buy the 7 day license.
We’ve been catching whiting, catfish, huge 30+ lb Rays. The kids are having a blast. We caught 4 huge rays this am. We have a crowd watching the kids reel them in. Some people have caught pompano. I haven’t had any luck.

My goal was just to get the kids on to fish. They are 12 and 8 and addicted to fishing. They rays gave them a run for their money. It was fun.

Me and ClassicGold are hitting Dauphin Island this weekend. I am just hoping 5 lost trout will bite.
