Picked this 2008 Taylor Custom GS up today. Amazing feel, the type guitar I ave always wanted but did not think I could afford. Older lady had it in a closet for over five years after her husband passed on. Has a small dint but who cares you cant really see it.

I had a Taylor 210 dreadnought that I picked up for $400 for awhile.

Great guitar.

I gotta say, that thing is ugly.

However, I am referring to the SI cover!

The Taylor is a real beauty!

I originally was going to post this pic but the wall looks eerily similar to the guitar and went with an angle shot instead.

Is that one of the sinker rosewood tops?

(or maybe walnut)

Nice find. What's the back look like?

Yes it is. I contacted Taylor via their chat and they sent me this on the production specs. It has some Ebony, Koa, Indian Rosewood, Mahogany, Sinker Redwood. The back is the same as the sides.

but the top is Sinker Redwood, Back and sides, East Indian Rosewood with the back having a wedge in the middle which is Hawaiian Koa (same as the binding) neck is tropical mahogany and fingerboard and bridge are ebony

The tuner knobs have been replaced with a black version but I have the original brass as well.

That's what I meant Redwood ... not Rosewood.

Haven't heard that combination in person but have always thought a redwood top would pair well with a rosewood body.

What do you think of the three-piece back? I've been a little skeptical until a couple weeks ago. When I got a Yairi with a three piece solid rosewood back. Some say it makes them stiffer, while others say they don't think so.

The feel and sound of those original era Grand Symphony guitars by Taylor are great, no doubt. (The new ones with the soundport are polarizing, for sure. I would hesitate and I'm an Ovation guy). That is one of the first 2 or 3 model years, IIRC.

Congratulations on your dream guitar. I keep thinking mine will be a Guild D-55.

I grew up playing an old applause acoustic, I'd fall asleep with that guitar in my bed. I wish I still had it, was stolen though. Of course.

have had mine for almost 2 years now. You won't regret it. Unbelievable guitar. Coincidentally, it replaced a Taylor 314ce LTD as my main acoustic.

I picked up a Taylor 414ce off reverb about a month ago. It's my first accoustic and it plays like butter. I got a decent deal on it. Taylor makes some really nice guitars.
