re: Just remember, it's going to take more than a year to fix Jameis.

I think part of the interceptions is Arians/Leftwich's offense and their bad OL/RBs. All of the pressure was on Winston to make chunk plays behind an OL that 23rd in OL rankings from Football Outsiders.
The Bucs were mediocre last year overall, but it wasn't TB's defense - they were actually really good last year (5th in the NFL in DVOA !) - which seems crazy that they didn't have a better season.
Winston is playing behind a much better OL in NOLA with a better complimentary running game.

I get it he was bad last year but think of it this way. Will he be better with a much better front line, better WR's and TE's, better defense and much better coaching than he had last year? He had over 5000 yards last year. He also played from behind in most games last year. It is a risk vs reward situation and the payoff would be unbelievable.

Is it just me, or does it kind of look like he has a depth perception issue in this video?
Maybe this is just confirmation bias now that we know he got LASIK, but a lot of the passes are either behind the wide receiver or are bizarrely short or long.
Makes me thing he is having trouble perceiving how far away his receivers and the defenders are. Particularly, on intermediate throws to the sideline where routes can be at a variable depth (e.g. out routes designed to be caught at the first down marker).
Anyone else see this?

So interesting how ppl forget Drew Brees wasn’t Drew Brees before he got here. And it took him a few years to get it.

People on here act like Jameis is complete trash must have forgotten that Jameis beat us his rookie year and beat us in 2017 during our playoff run.
Jameis is a good potential Brees replacement, he’s young, and his arm talent is top notch.
Pitcher in baseball who couldve stayed with it and made if he wanted.
Former 1st pick of the nfl draft.
Jameis is talented. Dont hate him and say he sucks and be completely unrealistic.

If I’m not mistaken, he just got married. Maybe that will help him mature some. Has talent, will never be anything like Brees, but he’s young enough to get better if he wants.

Look, we are all jaded due to Jamies playing for Tampa. Payton has obviously seen something there. Whether it’s just a,”let’s see what he’s got” or not, we don’t know. They got him for essentially nothing, so we shall see. Let’s not freak about it now, just because we don’t like the person that we think he is.

Just for fun, let's compare his numbers after 5 years at a dumpster fire like Tampa Bay with Drew's 5 years at San Diego. I know that the game has changed since that time but here they are, make your own conclusions.
Drew pretty much sat for his first year behind Flutie and had him as a mentor for his first 4 year. Jameis had Google, I guess.
I'm not saying Winston is the next Brees, but I think the biggest part of what needs fixing can happen in a year. Bad decision making may improve when you're not getting sacked more than twice a game?
