“My mother was in good health, other than having dementia,” Faith Heimbrodt of Huntley said. “She had no other health issues. No diabetes, no heart disease, no cancer.”
But dementia, especially if its been going on for awhile, can make you immunocompromised just by its nature of losing function and becoming more susceptible to UTIs, pneumonia, etc. Add to that it sounds like she was in a shitty nursing home with a family member that never visited to make sure she was taken care of, I imagine she was ripe for picking up COVID-19.

Heimbrodt, 49, said she used to visit every few weeks. But Heimbrodt had not been there since late December because she has multiple sclerosis
Translation: She hardly ever visited. So annoying how some of these family members want to act like they’re caregiver of the year all of a sudden.

In this case, I suspect that Covid is being used as cover for extreme neglect.
Going to happen at a lot of places especially for people that can’t communicate with their family
My mom has 2 neighbors that lost family members & both say they believe they were not being fed
I know one was getting close to end of life, not sure about other

This entire thing reeks. Government is absolutely inflating these numbers
In this case the government has nothing to do with it. It sounds like this place is neglecting patients to the point of death and using Covid-19 as an easy cover up. The government just takes the numbers given to them in these situations.

I wouldn’t be surprised if China didn’t specifically develop this virus as a “herd thinner”.

Oh shite.
I'm not faulting this women. Seems she has her own health issues, but this is why my parents are never going to one of these shite holes.

The coroner who labeled this a covid death is a government official.

How could a nursing home patient possible pass away from anything besides COVID... like perhaps old age!
This entire response is complete fricking bullshittery.

I'd say a percentage, not a very large one.

Side note: time to open up the businesses.
Adding this line shows that you have a bias and will try to minimize everything. I too think its time to open things back up but I am not going to do mental gymnastics to try to prove that this whole thing was a fallacy.
2 things can be simultaneously true:
1) Its time to open businesses back up.
2) The stay at home order was necessary and it worked. My wife is an ICU nurse in New Orleans and they barely had the bed space for the Covid patients at its peak. Without the stay at home order, they are most certainly overrun.

This is like driving west to Flagstaff AZ....you can see that coming from hundreds of miles away.
Im not a big fan of the personal injury sect but...if they smell money..they may be the ones that can get some traction on shedding some light on covid vs neglect malpractice numbers

My mom is in a nursing home and other than my dad passing away two years ago , this has been the most difficult time of my life. I go every day and stand outside of her window after work I can’t wait to get back in there I’ve already informed my employer the first week I can get in there , I’m taking a week vacation. There are some good aides and some really terrible ones along with one horrible nurse. The director is a narcissist Napoleon prick
