This is FAR from "settled".
By the time the shitstorm of lawsuits crests, several of these cases will make it all the way to SCOTUS.
We may see the several changes in regards to limitation, scope, or even the end of "emergency powers" by state/municipal exectives altogether.
Declaring an emergency =/= immediate power to suspend due process and specifically enumerated Constitutional freedoms.

Police Union - "We won't enforce it, its stupid"
Texas AG - "Cops should focus on criminals and not this"
Mayor Turner - "HPD will not issue fines for not wearing a mask"

She was only elected because of the straight democrat ballot that almost got Beto elected. People were just clicking straight democrat without having to even read the ballot. It has since been abolished.

Well, she's a 'judge' only in title...basically the mayor of Harris County.

I hope that if there is any silver lining to this, it comes in the form of Hidalgo diminishing any good will she may have had with the Harris County constituency, and that they remember when election time comes.

Cannot wait for Monday and pissing off people... The ignorant people in my neighborhood (gated) started a text message thread last night "will we be wearing masks inside of the community come Monday". It took everything in me not to blast them.

Smart move to use the Texas Constitution instead of the U.S Constitution. Jacobsen is some pretty strong medicine under the U.S Constitution, but Texas judges don't play when it comes to rights - and overreacting 28-year-olds.

Downloaded next door to get a consensus round my parts in Tomball. Not many are saying they will comply. Of course there are a few spreading the "it's not for you" bs.
