Why didnt we stop that? Is it because the Sacklers were making billions and billions of dollars and paying off the pols?
Young otherwise healthy people dying EVERY day for 20 years.......

Purdue Pharma stepped up its Congressional lobbying efforts the past two years. In 2017, the company spent $940,000 and increased it to $1.12 million in 2018, its highest level ever. Nine of the 10 lobbyists Purdue Pharma employed in 2018 are members of the “revolving door” with close Capitol Hill connections like lobbyist Dora Hughes, a former health policy advisor to then-Sen. Barack Obama.

It’s bc the US Military is crap. We declared War on Drugs in the 80’s and Drugs are still kicking our arse. We need better generals or planes or something.

Im of the opinion that things would be better now had we not cracked down on oxycontin.
Heroin and fentanyl epidemic is even worse. At least you know what's in prescribed meds. The meds do wonders for those who needed them.

We let the doctors get out of hand and the pharma reps.
In kenner a local pharmacist lost everything, his 20 year business, his wife, everything over those pills. Ive known people to die from them. I know they are bad, but I think the alternative is worse.

Plus, nothing like a quarter grenade on a Friday night, am I right?

Do people really not grasp the difference between self-harm and an illness the spreads within a population?

the op and his ilk obviously doesn't.

Of course none of them will ever be accused of being the guy that invented the Rubik's cube.

No doubt......until that 1/4 turns to a 1/2. Then the 1/2 turns to 1 big boy, then 2.

You think the flow of drugs into the US is a military failure?

If everyone in government and law enforcement actually wanted it stopped, it would be stopped. There's too much money and too many mf'ers on the take both underground and via political lobbies.

Opiod overdoses aren't contagious.

And we have tried to stop them.

Nixon 1972 literally coined the term "War on Drugs". Ronny Raygun ramped it up in the 80's. Clinton went even farther, and the rest have just let it ride.

Every President has fought the "war on drugs".

Here is the problem. People like drugs. People want drugs. People would kill to get more drugs.

And here is the difference. Drugs aren't contagious. You can't catch an opioid overdose at the grocery.

Other non-contagious things: smoking, cancer, car accidents, heart attacks, plane crashes, strokes.

If the government outlawed sugar, cigarettes, driving cars, and red meat to "save lives"; people would revolt. Because they are personal choices. Getting the Wuhan virus is not a personal choice.
