Majority of the responses will be from people who don’t even live in Louisiana so ignore 90% of all comments.
Your welcome.

I’ll probably be going back to Houston upon graduation. The OT’s overall opinion of lawyers doesn’t seem to bode well for the professions future in Louisiana
You’re going to Loyola Law School but then will go back to Texas to practice? Bad move

I understand the skepticism, but I already own property there and received a full scholarship

It doesn’t make much sense for career prospects but suit yourself.

Would you elaborate on that?

quote:. Loyola isn’t a great law school (and I mean not worth moving for. I know plenty good graduates). You should have looked at opportunities in TX if that’s where you want to practice. Houston alone has three schools. I generally don’t think it makes much sense to go to a school with no connections to the state in which you want to practice unless it’s an elite level institution
Could you elaborate on that?

Completely understand your analysis and it’s well thought out. I did apply to U of H and was waitlisted, and received half a scholarship from South Texas.
I had two attorneys for parents growing up, and know cases of Loyola students having success in Houston. For example, my step-mother is a Loyola law grad and has good position with one of the big oil and gas companies here.
Having said that, I went to LSU and have good friends in New Orleans, and am not opposed to ultimately practicing there as well. I just believe both options are on the table if I make good grades, and the difference between attending south Texas on half a scholarship vs. Loyola for free isn’t substantial enough to pass the 50K+ in savings

Fair enough. Good luck

Also, Houston sucks to live in if you’re single in your twenties. Grew up there, and hardly any new women move there post grad. They choose Dallas and Austin instead. We call it “Dudeston” for a reason, and New Orleans is a much more fun place to be IMO

You will be fine Baw

Be prepared to never leave. Find you a local Uptown gal and you won’t. Good luck. You’re going to love it

Moving to New Orleans but living in the Warehouse District is like going to a steakhouse but ordering the fish.

Grats on the sex with some Tulane JAPs

You can set up a uhaul now.
I’m moving to a different apartment in a couple weeks and had no problem getting movers scheduled.
That being said. Orleans parish extended the current quarantine rules to May 16th. So most things will still be closed and city will still be dead until then

Living in the Warehouse district makes me question if someone really wants to live in New Orleans. Person like that probably would be happier in Austin IMO.
