Preliminary results from government lab experiments show that the coronavirus does not survive long in high temperatures and high humidity, and is quickly destroyed by sunlight, providing evidence from controlled tests of what scientists believed — but had not yet proved — to be true.

A briefing on the preliminary results, marked for official use only and obtained by Yahoo News, offers hope that summertime may offer conditions less hospitable for the virus, though experts caution it will by no means eliminate, or even necessarily decrease, new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. The results, however, do add an important piece of knowledge that the White House’s science advisers have been seeking as they scramble to respond to the spreading pandemic.

The continuous use of far UVC light in a manner safe for human skin is what this is all about. It was take mass production and installation all over the world but it seems indisputably effective.

I love how every time there is a positive development, the "experts" immediately try to downplay it.

How can one reconcile "coronavirus does not survive long in high temperatures and high humidity" with "it won't necessarily even decrease new cases of COVID-19"?

To say it won't completely eliminate it, is one thing. But to say it won't decrease it? it's not even possible for that statement to be true. It's an outright lie.

This is why it didn't make sense to shut Africa down. It's hot as fish grease in some parts of Africa. And, it's about to be hot as hades down south. Lets get it!

I directly asked two of my local health officials, one the county health officer and one the director of the my county's health services, about sun light and warm weather killing the virus at a recent public health forum in my town.

Both of them, when directly questioned, scoffed at the idea... Saying that the vitamin D and sunlight argument were essentially unproven conspiracy theories.

THESE PEOPLE DON'T KNOW shite. THEY ARE THE SAME ONES THAT SAID 2 MILLION DEAD.

As the Doctor Shiva, who is running for Massachusetts Senate said, these doctors do not understand, from how they are taught in med school, that it's about the immune system and not reacting once the virus takes hold with big pharmaceuticals. Beef up the system with vitamin and healthy lifestyle and you wont get sick.

I mean this in all seriousness, fricking Alex Jones has been more right about this entire virus than the "experts".

Now think about that. He and the other "wackos" literally haven't been wrong.

-This was created in a lab

-Bat soup is a cover

-China is at fault.

-It is not as contagious as others are saying.

-It's designed to crash economies

- Sunlight and vitamin D kills flu-like viruses.

-Dems will use this as a power grab

-The media wants this to continue.

Well, it's a good thing no one lives in, or conducts all of their business indoors.

No doubt. And I haven't heard a single comment from Alex Jones about any of this, because I generally regard him as an attention hog, but I agree with every one of those points. And have believed every single one of them since this began.

It has just been so transparent how they are manipulating information for all of their causes (crash the economy, blame Trump, condition the public to government dependency, make vaccines mandatory, mail voting, and on and on).

And it's all about to blow up in their faces.

Oh look, a "fact check" from a mainstream news outlet from less than 2 weeks ago saying the sunlight argument is dumb and bullshite:

And get a load of this... A fricking medical doctor and NC rep said su light does kill it, and so did a health blog, but "experts" said it doesn't... So guess what.... It's false!!!!
. Please explain to me just what the frick a renal transplant surgeon is not a health expert???

But a fricking college assistant professor is??

Fact check: Sunlight does not kill the new coronavirus
?

MOLLY STELLINO | USA TODAY | 2:56 pm EDT April 5, 2020

? ? ? ?

?

We answer the often searched question: "What are the symptoms of coronavirus versus the flu?"

USA TODAY

The claim: Sunlight kills the new coronavirus

An article on a holistic health blog that has been circulating on Facebook tells people to go outside to prevent catching the new coronavirus because sunlight kills it.

“In my opinion, keeping the beaches closed and having people quarantined inside their homes is a bad decision. Getting more sunshine is a proactive step we can all take at protecting ourselves from the current coronavirus outbreak,” wrote David Friedman, the author of the blog post. “Instead of staying quarantined inside your house, go outside on your back deck and soak up some virus destroying sunshine!"

The claim has been shared elsewhere. Graphics offering similar tips have spread throughout social media.

Rep. Greg Murphy, R-N.C., who represents the 3rd Congressional District, referred to the claim last month in a video posted on his Twitter account.

In the video, Murphy, a physician who worked in urology and renal transplantation, stands in scrubs in front of a large white board and shares tips to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. One of the items on the list is “Sunlight (UV light) can kill the virus.”

USA TODAY reached out to Friedman and Murphy for comment but did not receive a response from either.

Fact check: Is the coronavirus spread 'quickly' via gas pumps?

The claim appeared in the Thai newspaper Komchadluek in March. The article listed UV light as one of seven “things that COVID-19 is afraid of.” AFP Fact Check reported the article was shared in a Thai-language health group on Facebook with more than 6,000 followers and posted on social media multiple times, translated into English and Spanish.

Coronavirus is changing everyday life across the US

What experts say: The sun’s UV light cannot kill the coronavirus, and concentrated UV light should not be used to kill the virus

The claim holds little truth. Experts advised against using concentrated UV light to prevent or treat the coronavirus and do not recommend going in the sunlight to kill the virus.

Only levels of UV light much higher than what is in sunlight can kill viruses, experts said, and the levels that kill viruses can cause irritation to human skin and should be avoided.

Pokrath Hansasuta, assistant professor of virology at Chulalongkorn University, explained what happens to AFP Fact Check.

“Ultraviolet is able to kill COVID-19 if it is exposed to the concentrated UV ray in a certain amount of time and distance,” she said. “However, that level of UV exposure is harmful to human’s skin. Most likely, it will be in the light bulb or lamp as the natural UV from the sun is not strong enough to kill it.

Didnt make sense to shut down most of the southern U.S. This explains the disparity in case numbers of places like Seattle and NYC to those of comparable cities in sunny states like CA, FL, and TX. As far as NOLA being a hot spot, those numbers are totally skewed by NOLA demographics.

I think it's NOLA's demographics and how close people live together there.

Miami and Los Angeles have more cases than Seattle, and Los Angeles has more deaths.
