What was the story as to why he didn’t commit to LSU? I was looking at this dudes highlights and holy shite is he amazing. Dude is straight up honey badger lite. I saw that we offered him but he chose LA Tech anyways. Wish this man nothing but the best and selfishly hope my Texans draft him.

If I remember correctly he did not have a committable offer or we came too late in the process

Not as a true FR... He would have been RS’d which is why he signed with Tech

LSU offered Amik. During his recruiting visit, Amik asked Coach O if he would see immediate playing time as a true freshman. Coach O told Amik due to the depth at the CB position, he would likely redshirt his first year.

Coach Holtz told Amik he would start immediately and see lots of playing time as a true FR. Amik was sold on the idea and committed to LA Tech. Amik could have committed to LSU but chose to sign with LA Tech. It was all about playing time for Amik. Coach O was honest based on the players who were already ahead of him on the LSU depth chart.

What most don’t realize is Amik became a father when he was 15 yrs old and he had to grow up fast. His goal was to attend college for 3 yrs, get immediate playing time to showcase his talent for scouts, and get to the NFL ASAP to give his family a better life.

We can play what if all day, but in the end, he made a good decision and will easily be drafted.

You can’t take everyone. There are 25 spots. The kid was lie the 27th ranked player in the state. These things happen.

except.... you don't know that for sure. Do you not realize how much talent we have at DB... Greedy, Fulton, Stingley, Vincent, Donte Jackson, Kevin Tolliver.... there is a good chance he never becomes a 1 or 2 CB. and gets stuck playing the Kary Vincent role. Hell what if he struggles at first and doesn't get the playing time he needs and never develops. and gets lost at the bottom of the roster. YOU NEVER KNOW. I think he made the right decision.

He is just as likely to have been drafted lower. The NFL finds talent and evaluates it - not like you do - bt by carefully watching what he does on every play, and then by putting him through drills and interviews. They don’t care what college he went to.

Have you even watched him play? He is a better play maker than any db on LSU since Honey Badger. Not saying he would be a no doubt CB1 but the kid can flat out play and make game changing plays just like Honey Badger did. If he would have played like he he the last two years at Tech he would def start for LSU.

Dude slow your roll. He'd have struggled to get on the field this year with Fulton and Stingley. Be real. He is a great player who would have contributed and helped us be a more complete D to win a natty but we got dudes who will be drafted ahead of him.
