North Texas QB Mason Fine — who threw for over 12,000 yards and accounted for 100 TDs with the Mean Green — had video interviews last week with several teams, including the #Saints. Before the lockdown, Fine was working out with trainer Todd Durkin ... and Drew Brees. ??

The kid was always overlooked due to his height. Mason's a baller! I hope he gets a legit shot to make an NFL roster.

Note that this was before the lockdown.

Gonna be an uphill battle. Both height and build are an issue with him. He also does not have a very big arm.

Neither of these are big issues. Just look at Brees. I’ll take a qb that is accurate over a qb with a cannon any day. I think we have also proved that height is not an issue either.

He is not build like Brees or Wilson. He has a much smaller build. I think he is about 20-25 pounds lighter than those two.

Who cares about his weight? He plays qb. He isn’t going to be asked to run people over. He also has a lot of muscle that Brees has never had. He is just cut. Brees even told him he is too jacked to play qb. Besides he can always put weight on and he is projected to be like a 6th round pick or higher. He isn’t starting any time soon.

Really? So QBs don't run or take hits? How many 190 pound QBs under 6 feet without a strong arm are successful QBs in the NFL? I would imagine he could be an UDFA that a team tries out in camp to see if he has anything. I would not use a pick on him.

This is pretty much what it will be. And he will most likely sign here if we are one of however many teams offer him a contract

He measured smaller than I expected at the East-West Shrine game.

5' 9 1/2" 189 with only 8 7/8" hands

I mean some run but most will slide before contact. Again nobody will ask him to run a defender over. It won’t effect his ability to run. Most qbs immediately go down when touched anyway. Tell me how him being 190 lbs is relevant. Plus he can put on weight. You can maybe make an argument that he is more prone to injury. I’m not going to say he makes it I just don’t think your reasoning is what sinks him bc it has been proven that shorter qbs can play in the league. A big arm also isn’t necessary. You see a lot of big arm busts. Accuracy and decision making is key. Brees and Brady both have average arm strength. I don’t think his weight is relevant.

Not good when smaller than Kyler Murray

Yeah this is shorter than I thought. I thought he was more like 5’11. This hurts my argument

Goodness I’m arguing over an undrafted camp body. This coronavirus thing needs to end.

Y’all win I don’t like my take anymore

I thought this thread was about Mason Fine. Why did you bring Drew Brees up?
