It's Superbowl or Bust for the Saints

First Payton announces it's Brees' last season, and now Brees signs a contract with NBC Sports. Place your bets on the Saints this season, because it's all or nothing. I even see Payton gambling and going for it on more 4th downs this season.

we are not stacking the roster like it’s his last.

So all of the other years it was a successful season when they didn't win the SB???

It’s SB or bust every year. It will be that way even after Brees is gone
ETA: Doesn't mean we can’t have a good season if we don’t win but we always hope for a SB

Super Bowl is two words.

This is inaccurate- we have stacked the roster like it.
Made a huge move for Emmanuel Sanders- which this board was been deep throating the idea of for 2 years now. This feels a spot we desperately needed and takes the offense to another level.
Signed Malcolm Jenkins- a huge addition to the pass defense. We take a small hit in run support, which is the strength of the defense, and add a major plus in pass defense. Expect fewer busts and better communication, which really plagued this secondary at times.
Resigned PJ Williams- solidifies great depth in the back 7 and most importantly, prevents us from having to force a pick and reach for a corner in the draft when a better player is still on the board.
Resigned Andrus Peat- Similar logic to Williams. The number is high (he'll never see 40 something million) but Peat plays 3 positions on the offensive line and when healthy he's a top 6-8 OG in the NFL. Stop watching the same 2 clips with him against Donald and Fletcher Cox (the literal 2 best players in the league at IDL) when Peat has a broken hand. He's a good run blocker and is fine in pass pro when healthy. Also ensures we don't have to reach for Cesar Ruiz at 24 which via the transitive property, ensures many of you on here don't have the top of your head come off.
This was an idiotic take. People act like if you don't sign 7 big names and throw hundreds of millions guaranteed in the first 90 seconds of FA that you failed. There's a reason why the Saints, Pats, etc are back in contention year after year-- one being we don't overpay for garbage FA's
We have set ourselves up in a position in this draft where we can take the absolute best player available at every pick. No needs ned to be plugged via draft. This philosophy is how we got CGJ last year, for example. This roster just has few needs, if any. Cannot wait to get better in 12 days

Don't say that, man.
Every season is "SB or Bust" for every team that had a record of at least 7-9 the previous season.
It doesn't make any sense to say "SB or Bust" for the 2020 Saints, because the team can have a mighty fine season regardless of whether they go to the SB.

It's Super Bowl or bust every season for 90 percent of the league that isn't in a total rebuild.
However, this is the last ride. Enjoy it. I'm desperate for another Super Bowl, but all I can really ask for is a memorable last ride with Brees at the helm. Even if we don't win it all, I hope at least we make the playoffs and make a push.
I dont think this is it for Payton, though. I have a feeling he's going to be extra motivated to win another SB after Brees leaves and will want to prove he can groom another stud and win some playoff games before he retires.
