Immediate infusion of $30 billion into healthcare system Recognizing the importance of delivering funds in a fast and transparent manner, $30 billion is being distributed immediately – with payments arriving via direct deposit beginning April 10, 2020 – to eligible providers throughout the American healthcare system. These are payments, not loans, to healthcare providers, and will not need to be repaid. Who is eligible for initial $30 billion All facilities and providers that received Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) reimbursements in 2019 are eligible for this initial rapid distribution. Payments to practices that are part of larger medical groups will be sent to the group's central billing office. All relief payments are made to the billing organization according to its Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). As a condition to receiving these funds, providers must agree not to seek collection of out-of-pocket payments from a COVID-19 patient that are greater than what the patient would have otherwise been required to pay if the care had been provided by an in-network provider. This quick dispersal of funds will provide relief to both providers in areas heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and those providers who are struggling to keep their doors open due to healthy patients delaying care and cancelled elective services. How are payment distributions determined Providers will be distributed a portion of the initial $30 billion based on their share of total Medicare FFS reimbursements in 2019. Total FFS payments were approximately $484 billion in 2019. A provider can estimate their payment by dividing their 2019 Medicare FFS (not including Medicare Advantage) payments they received by $484,000,000,000, and multiply that ratio by $30,000,000,000. Providers can obtain their 2019 Medicare FFS billings from their organization's revenue management system. As an example: A community hospital billed Medicare FFS $121 million in 2019. To determine how much they would receive, use this equation: $121,000,000/$484,000,000,000 x $30,000,000,000 = $7,500,000

Looks like this is just Medicare, not Medicaid, correct?
Posted on 4/10/20 at 2:14 pm to Golfer
Yes, appears to be only Medicare, not Medicaid or even Medicare advantage plans ie people’s health Humana gold, etc

Just Medicare. At the bottom of the release it does mention that Trump has received agreements from multiple private insurers to help. Doesn't specify the manner. They all have billions stashed back for catastrophes, just like all insurers are required. They've never had to tap into these funds nor have they refunded them back to providers/customers even though money have far, far more than they would ever need. Time for them to cut some checks. We are continuing to provide care for their customers at increased costs to us and far less revenue. Meanwhile they are still banking everyone's monthly premiums. They are KILLING it right now. Trump's gonna make them open the coffers, and rightly so. I just hope those of us that have gone above and beyond at financial and physical risk to ourselves to care for their customers are justly treated. I also don't think they should be able to discontinue coverage for someone that has been laid off during this. They were more than happy to rake in their premiums, but now they are mine to care for with no insurance. So, I get to exhaust my time, money and resources while incurring risks to myself and employees while they get to jump ship until the pt goes back to work and gets insurance again. bullshite. And every week, the number goes up. I'm personally not making pt's pay now, but am billing it. I've told them not to worry, I'll forgive it once this is done, but I want it on the books to throw in their insurers lap and ask how they going to help. Maybe the insurers will do right and prevent a building revolt.

Any chance and independent contractor (1099) like me will ever see any of that money?

frick Humana. Don't know why anyone would do business with them, but the advantage plans damn well better pony up. If they shite the bed on this, I'll be done with them and I've warned my patients waaaaaay ahead of time of dealing with them. I may seem like an arse, but if more providers would tell them to kick rocks and refuse to deal with them, they would either have to get right or disappear.

Supposed to. Based on 2019 medicare billing. It's automatic based on last years filings. Will start going out today and continue over next 30 days. No application for this.

Looks like bigger groups and facilities getting first. At least from texts I've been getting all day. Don't know of any solo guys or small groups getting checks yet except for those getting medicare advanced payment loans.

From my understanding it is all related to where your Medicare number is linked to, other words this money will be going to wherever the the money has been going to for your billing
Is your 1099 pay based on a percentage of receivables ? If so I would think you have a right to the same percent
If your 1099 is based on hours worked ... probably not
Based on Billings not receivables.... that could go either way

This. So if you're not the owner, you ain't getting shite!!! To those employed physicians out there, time to grow a set and get what you've earned. If they tell you to piss up a rope, go public. Time for us to take this shite back. That's why I have never and will never work for anyone else.

My buddy owns a rural health center and his hit today. Less than 20k as most of his revenue is from Medicaid.

And I hope anyone that took the medicare advance pay loan noticed the 10.9% interest on it. That money isn't free.

What state? I think they are prioritizing areas with higher numbers of positives and larger payrolls. Makes sense whether you like it or not. Get money to more people faster.

He's in PA. My facility is also in PA and just hit as well - a hair under $100k. A nice surprise as I just learned of this early this morning.

Understood completely! The payroll and bills haven't stopped even though our income has been reduced

Hell, bills our higher with all the PPE. We use a 15 year supply/week. Not going to cut corners and put employees at risk. Hospital admins not doing the same have no excuse. Hope they are punished accordingly. We reuse nothing and have had to go to non traditional sources for the supplies, but they are out there.
