What
The
frick
Do
We do
The last 3 weeks have been a major “schedule” shift with the baby’s mom bring home from work. The last 3 nights, she’s up all hours of the night.
I know we fricked up majority by rocking her to sleep every time she gets fussy, but we are rookies. She goes to sleep at 8, wakes up at 9, we rock her back to sleep, she wakes up when we put her down, repeat x 20. She’s currently sleeping her longest in 5 hours.. and it’s only been 5 minutes of sleep
Seriously, what the hell do we do. Thankfully neither of us have to drive to work with this virus lock down, but coffee and energy drinks can only do so much.
What’s this BabyWise thing? I’ve seen it mentioned a ton. My wife probably won’t be able to handle the cry it out method, but I’m fully on board

Get a nanny with big boobs

That’s not an option at this point

Sounds like insanity is your only option at this point. Prayers sent. Oh, and let her cry it out. The wife too.

Check for acid reflux, we had to let ours sleep in a car seat for a while to help with this.

If I added a baby to this insomnia, I would actually need meds. Have you tried driving her around? Babies seem to like car rides.

Brother, the cry it out method is the way to go. If the Mrs. thinks it’s cruel, explain to her that if the kid is fed and dry, it needs nothing else. The kid is taking advantage of you and expecting you to come get her. My kids’ pediatrician recommended it.
The kid realizes that you aren’t coming into the room and exhausts itself back to sleep.
Start the crying it out method now. If you don’t, the problem will never end. (Baby will learn that you come running every time it cries and start using it as a tool).

Car rides and swaddling help a lot. Be careful about leaving a baby in a car seat not in a car, because they get extra hot and can sometimes cause breathing/suffocation’s issues.

Congratulations on Parenthood. Looking back this is a very small battle

We had this problem with our second child. We discovered he wanted to be swaddled tight. Your baby likely feels less pressure when you put her down. Try swaddling a little tighter, carefully
Good luck. Mine is 16 now and it feels like yesterday. As odd as it may sound, enjoy this time.

Dear god let her cry it out. I made the mistake with my now two year old who sleeps with us every night. We have a 5 month old that will not be getting the same treatment. Her schedule was good but I’m starting to see regression and desire for us to hold her to sleep. Don’t give in. Let them learn to put themselves to sleep

Put a little whiskey in the bottle before bed.

Are you burping the baby regularly? Our baby would never sleep more than a couple of hours at a time and it would turn out the baby was usually either still hungry or wanting to be burped most of the time.
Also, since the baby is five months old the baby may be teething for the first time. If so, call your doctor to see what he recommends.

You aren’t bad parents.
Could be reflux, growth, beginnings of teething, the Devil, etc.
Sleep is overrated as a new parent.
