Several Democrats in Congress are calling for acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly to be fired following a passionate speech he gave to sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt in which he admonished the ship's former commander for expressing concerns over the coronavirus in a strongly worded letter that was leaked to the media.

Virginia Rep. Elaine Luria, a Navy veteran and member of the House Armed Services Committee, called for Defense Secretary Mark Esper to fire Modly for his remarks about Capt. Brett Crozier, who he called “too naive or too stupid” to lead the carrier.

So after the silence during the Obamanation Administration, Democrats want to fire all members of the Trump Administration that cannot be impeached!

Maybe he should meet with them in an undisclosed hanger and talk about grandchildren.

Sniveling piece of shite filth frick democrats need to shut the frick up about ANYTHING having to do with our military, national security or foreign policy. Period. They are absolutely fricking clueless about anything related to the subjects. Their conscientious stupidity blocks them from knowing that they have ZERO credibility and are despised by an overwhelming majority of the patriotic military.

How someone who is a veteran can call themselves a pussyfart democrat in 2020 is befrickling.

i take crap for generally liberal approach to social issues.

but let there be no doubt.

it was inappropriate to go public.
he had a chain of command.

he was under the delusion that a carrier captain operates "in peacetime".

should be retired. asap.

i agree with the comments of navy sec.

He broke the cardinal rule... be brief, be bold, and be gone. He meandered on about politics, whining, justifying his decision, etc. It was a weird speech. He would have been much better off saying he made the decision based on the best interests of the Navy, that he had the sailors well being in mind, and that he would do everything in his power to ensure the health of the sailors improves so they can get back to the fight. The end.

Since when does Congress have any say in military functions other than carrying out orders?
