I hate to say it but I agree here. Italy is getting frickin creamed...1/10th the population and twice the deaths. Throwing them a lifeline is not a bad image for the US.

Just saying.

There is some truth to this statement. However, I just wanted to point out that many EU critics claim EU policy has imposed much of the poverty in all of the Mediterranean countries in the EU.

It's a good pr look. By the end of all of this perception matters. China is at the point where they are embarrassing theirselves. We will look much more reasonable.

China may never recover from this. The entire world will view them negatively.

Yet some on here have no problem giving money away to them.

This is the absolute truth. I spoke to a friend in Finland a days ago and he told me the EU ain't f-ing with Italy and Greece because they've bailed them out too many times in the past. The EU wants to do some house cleaning and they are giving Italy a reason to leave.

Damn that’s a lot of money!

We have got to stop aiding others. They hate us.

Do you think the US is here to give money away to anyone and everyone? The days of America being the world's bank are over.
The OP kinda blows up that theory, though

Its 100 million in medical supplies not 100 million dollars. I'm proud of us. Plus we are manufacturing more supplies here. They cant there. It's all hands on deck and all butts in homes there. I feel ya on USAID and NGOs but this is not that situation.

Just looking at the comments above...do you guys even read the article posted?

It's not money that we are sending them. We are sending them things they need. Medical supplies. The article says it over and over. It's clear none of you read and only react. Dangerous combo.

The US has been doing this for years, it’s expected, like an allowance.

No cash and any aid should be in the form of medical equipment.

It's one of the most screwed up disfunctional governments in the western world.

I have a lot of sympathy for Italy but we are 23.5 trillion dollars in debt.

You can’t give away what you don’t have.
