And this is going to happen at every hot zone. In Spain, 13% of all cases are health providers. 30 employees is a small percentage for a system as big as Ochsner and nearly all of these are ICU personnel.
This is true. With over 20k employees this is 1.5% of there employees. It’s actually not a lot when you look at the numbers. But hope they get well quickly.

So another month of Medical employees praising themselves.
Just carrying that cross where ever they go.

They should be. They are pulling double duties. This virus is 3 times more contagious then the flu. And has a higher death rate. The difference is with the flu we have knowledge on it. So people still go about their lives more then they should as soon as soon as they feel better. If people would quarantine themself for the allotted time with the flu the numbers would be no where they are. If we are honest with ourself we know this is worse then the flu. He only reason the flu has higher deaths is because we aren’t quarantining and giving the allotted time to not infect others.
Covid-19 three times more contagious

They are doing those trials and getting patients off the vents and keeping others from getting on them
Awesome news if real.
Eta: curious as how the meds are administered if they’re on a vent. Tiguar said in another thread that one of the meds (sorry, can’t remember which one) isn’t available for iv admin. I have no idea but am just curious.

Which Ochsner location do you work at? Do you know if those quarantined/infected came from just one campus or multiplies and which ones and when did you guys go on quarantine. Hope your test comes back negative and that your infected co-workers recover well.
I was at the main campus recently and almost everyone was wearing gloves and masks and some discarded their gloves and used hand sanitizer as they were leaving the hospital. A young female, whom I presumed to be a nurse came out to greet me, extended her arm to shake my hand and wasn't wearing gloves nor a mask. I shook her hand out of instinct, but I was wearing gloves and a mask so I wasn't too bothered by it. For all I know, she might have used hand sanitizer on her way back in and put on PPE.
Ochsner's main campus on Jefferson Hwy is NOT in New Orleans NOR Orleans Parish, but in Jefferson in Jefferson Parish.
Another address for Ochsner Health is further away from the Orleans-Jefferson parish line and uses New Orleans LA 70123 as the address, but it really is in Harahan in Jefferson parish. They aren't the only ones that do the city switch with zip codes.

Lived in the 70121 zip my whole life. It is jefferson parish, but the postal service has it as new orleans. That 70121 is locally known as old jefferson. If you look at a map, 70121 is right on the edge of new orleans line. Hell, im in harahan now with a 70123 zip and for some reason im considered new orleans. I have no clue why the postal service does that so i can definetly see the confusion on here.
And yes ochsner has a womens facility in new orleans off claiborne that is a big hospital. We have a few clinics too.
Im a murse here on main campus. Yes it is getting bad. I been hearing it will peak on april 5th roughly. We are creating many new icu beds. Please take this stuff serious and stay home. I know it sucks, but eventually we are not going to be able to handle this many patients if it continues at this pace. I've seen it first hand and believe me, this is nothing like we have seen before.

How bad is it getting? Why April 5th? Could it prolong into mid to late April?
Posted on 3/26/20 at 1:31 am to Paul Allen
April 5th is the projected date of then the hospitals will be completely overwhelmed.

Because their is a vaccine and all employees get vaccinated

You would think that all hospital employees get vaccinated. There is a small percentage of Ochsner medical personnel that do not get the flu vaccine.
Look at the Ochsner employee badge to see if it has a FLU 19 sticker on it. Before this mess, those that chose not to get the flu vaccine had to wear a mask.
