It was a bio weapon meant to kill the oldest and least useful members of their society. Destroying the world economy is just a bonus. Their people can’t revolt.

Seems to be pretty a solid bio-weapon to me. Total shut down of western economy and society. Lock down of several countries, California and US cities and it only just started.
This "dud" of a bio weapon accomplished exactly what Bin Laden was attempting with the 9/11 attacks.

Well..when you make 90 % of the antibiotics and antivirals everything can be a bioweapon if you shut down exporting the cure. We are idiots for allowing this to happen.
