There are plenty of humans who are safe to test on and who are actually susceptible to the virus. It would another mutation presumably to make chimps susceptible.
ETA: this is a mild cold for a gigantic majority of young healthy humans. No reason to skew the results unnecessarily with healthy chimps.

Testing it on chimps sounds like a good way to turn it into CoronaAIDS

COVID-19 just means COronaVIrus Disease 2019. This virus was not known until recently, possibly not even created until recently.
ETA: created via mutation in an animal, not made in a lab in Wuhan

Underrated comment. Stay woke brother.

I don't disagree, its stupid as shite. But that doesnt change the fact that the Tulane Primate Center is testing on them, stupid or not. Seemed like you were saying it was BS that it was true when I was just brainstorming on why the frick theyd be doing it in the first place

That's what I assumed. Which still leaves me clueless about how some monkey zookeepers in Covington go about getting their hands on some of it

was some poor soul chosen to go to china and grab a sample from Wuhan to bring back?
More than likely that’s how a sample was sent to the u.s.

Yea no absolutely no clue how that happened "weeks" ago. Makes no sense if there supposedly werent even cases in the US at that time

Cooperation of medical professionals worldwide and the mail. In other words, sorcery.

I'm just asking for the actuality behind the statement. Chimps are the ultimate petri dish for human disease given their genetic proximity, but this shite ain't Ebola with a 25+% mortality rate. I'm not buying in on the chimp testing info until I see it published

Damn. The fricking mailman huh. I was hoping it was like one of those guys with the briefcase handcuffed to his wrist

They test the new flu vaccine every year usually on ferrets though.

“This initial study is just to find out whether these species of animals can be infected, whether they demonstrate the clinical signs, whether they have an immune response … where the virus is shed, whether it’s in urine, tears, feces, blood,” said Skip Bohm, chief veterinary medical officer at Tulane University’s National Primate Research Center, in Covington, Louisiana

Brinks truck, Sherman tank escort, Apache air support? Maybe, I actually don’t know how to properly send an apocalyptic plague to the other side of the world.

Covid-1 through Covid-18 are just cold and influenza viruses that people have been dealing with for years if not centuries. "Coronavirus" is about as new as apple pie or laying rubber at the Dairy Queen, and about as dangerous.

Primate Center. Dr. Mary's Monkey. Lee Harvey Oswald. Be surprised what might go on over at that place. Google it.

You have absolutely zero clue what you're talking about. Coronavirus and influenza are in no way related other than the fact that they are both viruses

"The most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of all coronaviruses has been placed at around 8000 BCE.[26] The MRCAs of the Alphacoronavirus line has been placed at about 2400 BCE, the Betacoronavirus line at 3300 BCE, the Gammacoronavirus line at 2800 BCE, and the Deltacoronavirus line at about 3000 BCE."
"In 2003, following the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) which had begun the prior year in Asia, and secondary cases elsewhere in the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a press release stating that a novel coronavirus identified by a number of laboratories was the causative agent for SARS."

Nothing new here. Call it SARS, a cold, a flu, a virus... whatever. There's no reason this should cancel life when SARS, etc. did not.
And SARS is a perfect example of what is happening sociopolitically. It was an absolute example of hysteria, perhaps the canonical contemporary example.
