It says that you really don't have a rebuttal so you throw out red herrings to distract from you not really having anything to say. Hence, the Chewbacca defense. Didn't think I'd have to explain it.

Bringing your children closer to God and honoring him is never a wrong decision. Stop making this about you and your wife. Your Grandmother is dying and God could be using her a his instrument to send a message to bring those babies to his light.
Just my Christian 2 cents.

Because God works in mysterious ways, right?

I think he does sometimes. It’s not up to us to understand the whys of HIS ways but to put faith into him and trust with our whole heart. Again just what I think.

The early childhood baptism in the Catholic Church is more of the parents and godparents making a vow to raise the child in the Catholic Church and with Catholic values. Confirmation is when the child or young adult is making these same vows for themselves and is taking on the responsibility of living and practicing the faith independently from anyone else. So if you are not going to raise your kids with Catholic values and take them to church every week etc. etc., I would not baptize them. Just my two cents.

I would grant it for the kids more so than for your grandmother. Baptism now doesn’t mean that they can’t make independent choices later in life.
Her wish that you do something positive for your children’s souls is not selfish in any way. That isn’t for her. She wants baptism for them, because she truly believes it is important to their salvation. She understands that you have caved into popular social justice pressure and have lost faith. She is trying to guilt you into doing what you won’t do otherwise - protect the souls of your children.
Look alive, show some snap, try to understand the big picture instead of just assuming your grandmother is selfish. Be a man, and get your children baptized instead of having “level-headed discussions” until the old woman is dead and you doom your children’s souls.
Do what is right.

Do you think your kids will resent you for having them baptized? I'm going to say that's a hard no. Do you love your grandmother?
Idk man, have you seen the insane movement of men getting pissed at their parents for circumcising them? fricking weird.

this really isnt that difficult. have your children baptized and then let them make their own decision when it comes to confirmation
