Yep. Driving should be an "active" activity - not passive. Yet most drivers are passive and not deliberate.

I think one thing that has gotten worse is left turners at a traffic signal. I was taught (and it seems to me like most drivers used to do this) to pull out into the intersection so you are completely poised to turn left when you get an opening from the oncoming traffic.

Now, it seems like I routinely get stranded in the left turn lane because the dope in front of me doesn't even inch out...sometimes completely missing the chance to turn left.

100%. It's just like the people that will block the right turning lane at a stop light so they are "first" instead of having two cars in front of them in the other lane at a busy intersection. These shmohawks are extremely selfish.
