Guess nobody noticed the Mayor has made an executive decision and will increase hur patrol officers starting salary to $15/hour effective immediately.

That's nuts. Minimum wage here in WA is $13.50.

I agree. But my 17 year old high school daughter making $400 a week part time at a library loves it.

Also, restaurant servers make full minimum wage plus tips. Some of them are averaging $40+ an hour. It's insane.

Louisiana/Minimum wage

$7.25

Imagine if edwards randomly announced tomorrow that Louisiana's will now be $13.50. As a social experiment, I wonder what that would do to the state after 4 years.

I appreciate and toast at how you threw 17 in there. That may bar some from asking for the usual, or claiming that's not what she's really doing..but probably not all.

It doesnt take a genius to be a cop in ville Platte. 15 still seems a little low but the cost of living there is low af

She's such a nerd. There are 17 year olds going on 26, then there are 17 year olds going on 12. She's the latter.

It's what the market supports. There are dying little towns like this all over the South, Midwest and parts of Appalachia.

Many of them were supported by a mill or factory that has long since closed and they have been losing population for decades.

Probably by the $15 an hour cop while he’s off duty

From the VP Wiki.

quote:

The median income for a household in the city was $12,917, and the median income for a family was $18,056. Males had a median income of $29,798 versus $16,563 for females. The per capita income for the city was $9,672. About 43.5% of families and 50.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 68.9% of those under age 18 and 32.5% of those age 65 or over.

Those cops are about to get all of the top-shelf VP poon.

Yeah, I didn't say I'd want to live there but pay is certainly relative to the area

I’m not a fan of minimum wage. But $15 an hour is 30k a year. How can anyone live off 30k a year?
