So I laid down Prodiamine recently and am still wanting to lay down post emergents as well, specifically MSM and Speedzone. Can some of the grass guys give me some guidance on if this is a good idea this late and maybe a timing plan to do so?

What type of grass, St Aug or Centipede? You can use either now to kill existing weeds in your lawn. Perhaps wait until Friday/Weekend the afternoon temps are in 60/70s. I’d suggest using the Speedzone now, in combination with Atrazine as per these instruction (note: Speedzone for Southern Lawns is the same formulation as Weed Free Zone in this “cocktail”). Do a follow up spray for weeds missed in 2 or 3 weeks. Save the MSM Turf for use as needed when afternoon temps are in the mid- to high 80s+, probably around May or so.

Do not use MSM when a centipede lawn is in transition. Speedzone should be fine.

Not crawdude but if you have bermuda I would use certainty/atrazine on poa. Barricade or dimension as your pre em and I would do it immediately. Broadleaf in winter would be dicamba and mcpa for fast results. Msm is slow acting in colder temps so I don’t like that for broadleaf weeds right now.

I’ve got a tif 419 lawn. I can post pics but it is gorgeous. I can give you a plan.

If you want to do something like that, you basically have to kill whatever you have, till it up, bring in new soil, etc? Basically start from scratch?

Pre-emergents. Prodiamine (Barricade) or Dithiopyr (Dimension) - your choice

Post-Emergent. Avoid Atrazine unless the Bermudagrass is dormant. The trimec (3-way herbicides) and Weed-Free-Zone/Speedzone (4-way) herbicides are safe on Bermudagrass and effective on numerous broadleaf and grass weeds. Simazine, similar to Atrazine, can be safely used on actively growing Bermudagrass and is a good herbicide with both pre-emergent and post-emergent activity, but to my knowledge the smallest quantity available for purchase is 2.5 gallons, and only a small amount is used per application (1 fluid oz/1,000 sq ft). It does have a long shelf life however - several years. If required, MSM Turf (methsulfuron methyl) provides good weed control in the heat of summer

I see ronk has provided suggestions and has offered to provide you a suggested schedule as he has a Bermudagrass lawn.

OK, for St Aug just follow the advice provided above. Just needed to know that you don’t have actively growing bermudagrass, as atrazine can damage non-dormant bermuda.

I’m slightly north of Baton Rouge so I’m not currently dealing with greening up bermuda. But yes, bermuda breaking dormancy will be affected by atrazine. It’s also labeled for us before April 15.

If you wanted to switch to a full bermuda lawn you would have a lot of work. You can do it yourself by spraying the whole lawn with glyphosate, letting it die and then renting a sod cutter. You could also hire some folks to do it.

FYI I hated the thought of a bermuda lawn but tif 419 in full sun is awesome.

I went with Daniella Bermuda and love it. This was last September.

How pet friendly is this mix?

As with almost all mixes just allow it to dry and you're fine.

I sprayed the Clegg's "Winter Weed Cocktail" a week or so ago and noticed that my Atrazine had some clumps in it. Is this normal and if not is there a work around? It was a pain to apply as it obviously was clogging my sprayer.
