Earlier this week LSU announced it would have its spring game on Southern University's campus as the turf is replaced at Tiger Stadium. Read more

RB: Yes, Southern will have a controlled scrimmage that morning. So these are logistics that we have to work out. And even speaking about that, we also want to get the two bands involved.

It’s not that special... why does this need so many threads

Than why not just ignore it to save yourself the anxiety? I'm not responsible for anybody else's thread.

I really dont see the big deal. I've been to spring game before and really not many people go. I am guessing a lot less will attend this year. The people who will go will be from that side of town and probably inspire some small kid and future All American to go to LSU.

Sounds like it'll be a fun and unique day.
Pretty cool that both Spring games will be played on the same day and both bands will get to play.

It’s funny because people act as if LSU isn’t surrounded by one of the worst neighborhoods in Baton Rouge lol. It’s actually pretty ridiculous.

Southern's band will put the wimpy shell of its former self Tiger Band to shame if that happens

Its out of the way and not easy for students to just walk and attend.
And someone like me wouldnt know the parking situation over there.
Not that i go to the spring game. I did once and fried to a crisp.

Well that’s understandable but I’m talking about that guys complaining about the area being crime ridden. As if LSU isn’t located in South Baton Rouge one the worst places in terms of crime.

I hope they seed it instead of fresh turf.

Talk about being mindlessly oblivious to your surroundings. LSU was built smack dab in the middle of Old South Baton Rouge (Da ghetto). That was originally made up of Louisiana Italian/ African American citizens. It's home of McKinley High School, the oldest high school established for African Americans in East Baton Rouge Parish. McKinley's first graduating class was in 1916. The four students became the first African American high school graduates in Louisiana.

Between campus and downtown is not “surrounded”.
And even at that, there are far worse neighborhoods in BR.

Eye of the beholder I guess. We fly down from Michigan for the spring game every year. Bring a grand kid and it’s one of the best vacations ever. Get to meet and chat with nearly every player and coach - priceless.

Let them and they are racing to see who can finish the song first. Most of the time even if they are playing among the most songs popular songs you can’t tell what it is.
