With all those wonderful places to live, it's amazing so many people choose to live here and suffer.

Because they don't have 100 million people who don't contribute to the economy.

And their health care is Still worse than ours.

I fricking hate when stupid people ask questions.

Healthcare is not a right.

Also: America has the finest quality healthcare on planet Earth. Fact.

There’s a reason very sick patients travel to the US from those countries for life saving care.

"coverage" =/= "care".

Also, what are their obesity rates compared to ours?

People, Lefties, are comparing apples to cigarettes.

This is actually where I disagree with most conservatives.

I don't necessarily have a problem with figuring out a better health care system. I believe that the Constitution only gave the federal government a handful of responsibilities and one of them was to provide for the general welfare of the public. In my opinion that can be read as medical care.

Most likely everyone will disagree with that, and that's fine.

However, I also believe we should just start going down the list of federal agencies and we should disband damn near every one of them. Nearly every other "social program" we have is illegitimate.

Should one of Prince Williams kids develop cancer, you think they’re coming to St Jude or going through NHS?

First of all, it’s breaking the bank and the effectiveness of the health care systems across the globe. Many countries are trying to figure out how to allocate finite health care resources without going bankrupt, and they are mostly doing it with wait times, denial of services for a growing number of health conditions, and a multi-tiered system where the wealthy still pay for private insurance (not too unlike what we have in this country).

Secondly, the U.S. is financing the research and development of the cutting edge medicines and methods which the rest of the world gets at a huge discount.

Thirdly, the U.S. is providing military security for the free world, which allows other countries to spend their money on universal health care.

Lastly, the U.S. is going into massive debt. It’s spending money on a huge government and some significant amount is sent to other countries. The world seems to be relying on the good credit of the U.S. All of this spending must eventually be accounted for. The credit card bill is going to come in the mail eventually.

Because they have no idea what they are giving up- it's all they know. I know, or know of, several people diagnosed on Tuesday and having major surgery on Thursday. That doesn't exist in a govt system.

In Canada, even folks with a potential condition that will cause death in 3 mos have to wait 6 mos for the test. Know what they do? They cross the boarder and get treatment in the US.

In the UK or Germany, if a cancer cure comes out and it's $200K, they have a lottery to decide who lives and who dies. Cause that is not in the federal budget.

We already have a shortage of Doctors. That will become a major problem in a Govt system. Law of supply & demand, coupled with Federal budget constraints, will absolutely lead to denial of care. What's a 70 year old gonna do with a new knee??

Govt already covers over 50% of US healthcare. With that we have goofy fraud-ridden Medicare, the VA, etc. That's what the govt built.

Finally, they depend on us to be the world police. They don't fund a military that could deal with the old USSR or current China.

Profit margin for major insurance companies are 4%-5%. I just don't see how turning admin over the govt moves the needle.

I’m going to give you an answer so honest, it’ll hurt.
I don’t want universal healthcare for the simple fact that our govt is inept and corrupt. A govt that can’t educate, over incarcerates, bombs at Will, and steals our money will never successfully heal us.
I would LOVE for there to be universal healthcare. Health insurance sucks, and I say this as an insurance agent. But, the fed govt has proven to be awful in every sense of the word, so they can gtfo.

There's a girl that moved to my daughter's High School here in McKinney Texas from Germany. I spoke with her last week about politics etc and especially insurance coverage in her country and she said they take over 50% of her parents income to help cover things like healthcare Care.I sure in the hell don't want that here. They are so glad to be in America.

Because healthcare for all was a step up from most had prior. For the US, it would be a step back in healthcare.

Plus, what so many fail to realize is that our for-profit hospitals are not set up for healthcare for all. Sometimes it is easier to build new than to have to destroy a current system and rebuild.

Several reasons:

1. Those “other” places have much smaller populations. Next nearest 1st world country in population to us is Japan and they have only 38% the population we have.
2. They don’t have the standard of care we have. Not even close.
3. They tax the everloving shite out of their populace.
4. Specialty care is a luxury. Waiting lists for specialized care are astronomical.
5. Americans are fat arse slobs that expect magic medicine to save them from themselves.
6. The standard of living in other countries is below ours.
