Wilson Alexander Twitter

"We've got to be better with the fundamentals of the game, and that's the coach's responsibility," Paul Mainieri said. "Obviously I haven't coached them well enough for us to play a crisp game where we don't hurt ourselves."

Maybe our girls softball team should play for them for a couple of weeks.

Paul did the right thing. If you have what many think is a championship roster then the only explanation for such poor baseball is coaching

I’m glad he owned it. Squarely on him

No way

Too early for such talk

I just agree with the others that this team could win it all. No excuse for play like last night. I’m sure we don’t see them play that way again

That’s on Paul for not having his guys ready.

I wouldn’t be so sure. It’s up to PM.

No reason for LSU to lose to an 0-3 Nicholls team. Midweek game or not.

Unacceptable.

Just a FYI, too many good Louisiana players not playing at LSU. Starting catcher at University of Texas is a freshman from Louisiana. LSU didn’t recruit him. Kid can hit and throw runners out. We need 2-3 catchers to do all of that bc one of them catch do both. Microcosm of what’s wrong with Paul and his recruiting strategy.

its early yet. Tigers can only get better from here. Probably learn a lot next weekend in the short trip to Texas.

CPM Updates 2/20 per Wilson Alexander Twitter

Paul Mainieri: “There’s a lot of growing up the team has to do. That is my responsibility. I take full responsibility for the way we played last night.” The mistakes against Nicholls frustrated him. He wants LSU to learn from them.

Paul Mainieri wants to get more consistent bats in the LSU lineup and focus less on home runs to create balance. Left fielder Wes Toups and shortstop Hal Hughes will start this weekend. Alex Milazzo will catch two games.

The LSU starting pitchers will ideally go six innings and 90 pitches this weekend as they increase their endurance, Paul Mainieri said.
