Obviously this AS Game MVP doesnt mean a whole lot but it does add to an already prolific resume for Kawhi:

2x Champ
2x Finals MVP
AS Game MVP
2x DPOY
3x All-NBA (2x 1st team and 1x 2nd team)

Where does he rank amongst the likes of LBJ, Bird, Durant, Pippen, Dr. J, etc?

4th behind LBJ, Bird, and Durant.

I don't think he can pass any of them.

add Elgin Baylor to that list, KL would be 7th behind the other 6

Id have him behind Lebron, Bird, Durant. It gets iffy beyond that.

Out of the top 5. He is a special talent, but not a leader. Just a hired gun, looking to make money and play when he wants. He sat out a year with an injury nobody can really describe that mysteriously flares up when he wants a few days off. The projection is he misses 15-20 games a year minus any additional injuries just for load management for the rest of his career.

Just for comparison, this is Leonard's 9th season and he has never played over 74 games in a season (only two out of 9 over 70 games). In Bird's first 9 seasons, he never played under 74 games..

His D is better than everyone on that list, except for maybe Pippen, who he most closely resembles.

Durant will always be the better scorer and Kawhi will always be the more rounded player.

Imagine if the Lakers would’ve signed Kawhi. They would be silly good as if they aren’t already.

Basketball reference uses comparisons based off win shares. LeBron has 14 seasons of 10+ win shares. Kawhi has 1.

Kawhi's player comparisons are Jimmy Butler and Anthony Davis.

He's in a tier with guys like Pippen, which is not bad. It's no insult to be pushing top 25 all time or so. He's not LeBron, Durant or Bird, though.

Need more time to judge Kawhi. Kawhi offensive game is a totally different animal now. He wasnt a good offensive player at all early in his career and hes lethal on that end now.
