He was a racist and owned slaves and the first president of the US was a racist slaveholder.

Watching. Not sure I like the format.

Seems to base some things on speculation.

Bill Clinton looks like shite.

Anybody remember the CBS mini-series with Barry Bostwick playing Geo. Washington?

Ahh, the 80s...

They'll likely do a hit piece with it.

I like watching the History channel when they aren't delving into politics or astronomy. Because their leftist/atheist garbage loses my interest in a matter of minutes.

Don't know if they'll give a fair representation of Washington, or try to throw him under the bus for owning slaves.

Yeah, I’m with ya. I told my wife that I’m giving it a chance and I’ll probably watch all three parts, but I’m hoping they stick to facts and don’t go all revisionist on us.

I mean...he was a slave owner. There's no sense in ignoring that fact.

It was just the way it was done back then. But a lot of people don't know that the Founders treated their slaves with a lot of respect. Of course, those who haven't visited Washington's, Jefferson's, Monroe's, Madison's, Franklin's homes, do not know this. They treated their slaves very well. People think of the 1800's south and the cruel treatment of slaves. The Founders did not do this.

And how many of his contemporaries were?

It’s like making a documentary about President Trump and noting (distinctly) that he had a smartphone

Yes he did but he treated his slaves very well. They had ample amount of food, housing and he respected them and the hard work they did. All of the Founding Fathers treated their slaves with the upmost respect. When his slaves died, he made a memorial for them. Just visit his home. There is a memorial for his slaves.
