I disagree on the salad shooter. I use this all the time for grating carrots for salads, grating blocked cheese, etc. It was cheap, doesn't take up much space, and I can put it in the dishwasher. I love mine.

Kenmore Elite double door refrigerator. I believe it was built by Samsung or some other company. Lasted 4 1/2 years and bit the dust.
Our LG fridge was about 2k and it's made it 5 years so far but has been a constant headache.

I did! But it would scorch the outside of the chicken long before the inside got cooked. It didn't have a temp setting. Only a timer. Plus it was a PITA to clean.
The only good thing that came from that thing was the elbow length high heat gloves. I still have them and they're great for handling pork butts, turkeys and briskets coming off the smoker.

Many times the guard won't allow to use a significant chunk of product so people free hand it. And lose a 1/4 of a finger.
Yeah, they just can't let go of that nickle's worth of carrot or spend $5 on a pair of kevlar gloves and end up with an ER visit that costs them thousands. The mandoline is an incredible tool. You just have to use it properly and protect yourself.

I do think it's good for sandwiches but terrible for almost everything else
I like it to cook off chicken breasts real quick on like a Wednesday night when I don't want to fire up a grill, too.
You're right, though, it is a killer tool for pressed sandwiches.
