At the convention, there will be hundreds of booths from hundreds of groups with hundreds of different policy interests.

There will be groups supporting the Second Amendment. They will be group supporting the first amendment. Groups supporting the gold standard and groups supporting home schooling. All trying to influence the platform committee. You name it, it will probably be there.

But no groups allowed to support gay rights.

The Texas Republican state and local party has affiliated outreach clubs dedicated to just about every group identity you can think of:

-Republican Women
-Republican Asians
-Republican Hispanics/Latinos
-Republican Pakistanis
-Republican African Americans
-Republican African-Africans
-Republicans who live in different neighborhoods

Gays are the ONLY identity group that is specifically prohibited.

A handful of elderly Evangelicals exercise petty power in the activist ranks and are completely out of touch with the vast majority of conservative voters. They believe it is more noble to lose on principle than to accomplish anything constructive.
