Getting kicked off the team at LSU sucked for me. But for him probably shaped the rest of his career.

Getting kicked off taught him a lesson that probably saved his life.

Lots of credit goes to Patrick Peterson who convinced the Cardinals to draft TM and took him under his wing. PP let TM live with him while teaching Mathieu how to be a responsible professional.

I have said this for a long time. He was in a bad place at that point.

Being suspended and having Patrick Peterson (and his family), helped get him to this point.

Proud of what he has accomplished.

True Tiger. And stuff like this keeps me in line. Ed proved this year as well, a Tiger can change his stripes.

Maybe PP7 and HB could have a summer camp with OBJ and help get his head on right.

He was my first favorite player. Cried like a baby when he got kicked off the team. Now, he’s a super bowl champ. Love that guy, so happy for him

Kansas City coach said Mathieu is the one that changed the culture of the team......for the Super Bowl Champs. Couldn’t have written that story.

He’s a great example as to why mentorship for men and giving people second chances is important. So happy for him and his family

Dude Jarvis is in his ear 24/7 and he still won’t listen. OBJ is to arrogant and selfish. Sadly he cares more about himself and the spotlight than his teammates. He could easily be an ambassador for the sport, instead he’s an embarrassment.

Feel the exact same way. Great young man and a fine lesson for young men everywhere!

I'm really happy for TM7. He worked hard for this, both on and off the field, for many years and has grown into an incredibly admirable role model for other troubled youth (including some current Chiefs players).

I also applaud PP7 and the Peterson family for taking TM7 under their collective wing, because I think their support played a big part in helping Tyrann learn to believe in himself (and taught him how to show that same kind of support to others).

But most of all, I'm happy knowing that somewhere out there, Tigerlee is curled in a tiny, miserable ball crying his heart out right now.

You’re so wise. Weed wasn’t the point of the post. Why so defensive?

Listen to interviews of what TM7 said about where his head was at during that time @ LSU. He was on a fast-track to destroying himself.

Weed was a symptom, not the problem - he still wrestles with those same problems today.

I can't remember which reporter said it, but he said "I've covered sports my whole life and a lot of the kids had a really bad childhood. But talking to Tyrann and hearing his story, I was almost in tears."

The greatest defensive player I've ever seen at the collegiate level.
