quote:Well, I'm nowhere near the talent Emery is... I wear glasses now, used to wear contacts. (I need glasses for reading now, too).
That is crazy he has been playing football all these years with one eye. I can’t imagine how great he feels with perfect vision now.
As a teen, I used to go without contacts/glasses a lot when playing sports, and in football it actually helped in some ways. I could still see, things were just fuzzy beyond a certain distance.
That distance happened to be just beyond arm's length.
So for football- if the ball was coming my way, I could still "detect" it easily, and when it became sharp it was time to catch. If someone was coming to tackle me, if they were fuzzy they couldn't touch me. It was almost like having a built-in range finder.
When I started wearing contacts all the time, it did sharpen the whole picture, and it looked nicer. But it sorta interfered with my timing awhile.

Study one time determine MJ had phenomenal vision and especially peripheral vision. One reason he appeared to be so quick. He simply saw things before everyone else did.
