Where to vacation?

We normally go to the beach during the summer, but we are thinking about doing something different. We have an 8 and 11 year old. The wife was thinking Pigeon Forge maybe. I was thinking more like the South Carolina. Anyone have any ideas for us to consider? Thanks.
No pics of wife.
ETA: 7 days or so. I would consider flying and renting a car.

How long of a trip? Grand Canyon or something out west like that is next on my list of trips I'd like to do.

Chicago and New York are fun trips if the kids have never been.

Hard no on pigeon forge. I’d suggest somewhere out west. Plenty of national parks with much better scenery

First time I went to the GC I was so underwhelmed...I mean it looked awesome but after 5 minutes I was thinking "can we go now?"

What are you going to do in South Carolina for 7 days?

The details of what your family enjoys doing is what makes this question so easy.
