I’m at a conference and staying at that cylinder shaped Hilton in the I-240/Poplar area.

Where can I go the next couple nights and sit at the bar, have a beer, and eat dinner alone? Burgers, steak, pizza, etc.?

Also, where can I get a good doughnut in the morning?

Gibson's Donuts is not far from you and is a Memphis landmark

There is a Ruth's Chris and Fleming's not far from you either, Folk's Folly is a local steakhouse not far either if you're looking for steakhouses

You can get to Huey's in Germantown for burgers and beer at a bar. Brookhaven Pub isn't far, decent bar food.

There is also a Central BBQ and a Gus's Chicken not far from you

Second the bar at Folk’s Folly. Hog & Hominy is near there as well.

Burned down. Not open.

Brookhaven is not my cup of tea, but nearby in case you want a beer/burger and watch a game at bar.

Went to Germantown Commissary. Worthy meal. That parking situation is quite the clusterfrick though.

Thanks guys. Was already planning on Folks Folly for Gin Show weekend.

Only when the sun is up.

I would check out Mr.B's in the back of the shopping center at the corner of Poplar and Kirby.

Blue Plate on Poplar for breakfast is solid

That Gus's location is not in a bad part of town, it's Mendenhall/Poplar right in the middle of East Memphis

That’s a shame considering the fact the central bbq is much closer to your hotel and much much better than the commissary.

The bar at Andrew Michael is fantastic as is folk fiolly’s.

Damn! Did not know that. Haven’t spent much time in Memphis as of late. They aren’t rebuilding?

It was a fire that started in a dumpster during a remode. They are rebuilding. Gonna tear down what remains and start over. They’ll reopen in about 9 months.
