It's a lot of money no matter what you do...or how good you may be

POTUS salary is 400k...for some perspective

At somepoint the salaries for HC and their assistants need a correction...

Getting out of hand

6300 per day for Bo...

19k per day for coach O...

Dabo is getting 25k per day...

They have no choice but to make it very hard for him to leave. They know he can coach. If he produces it's cheap

Pelini has not been a DC for 13 years.

So two head coaching jobs invalidate his worth? Let’s say for arguments sake that Aranda sucks at Baylor and is looking for a DC position, does he need to prove himself as a coordinator again before he’s paid good money? Greg Schiano hadn’t been a DC in 17 years when OSU paid him 1.5/year to be their DC in 2016. If Pelini was who Ed wanted, they probably needed to offer him more than he was making at Youngstown State.

Not at all. Every major university is paying assistant coaches more money these days. You can not expect to offer the incoming DC much less than the out going DC. Honestly that would be a slap in the face. Pelini has a solid DC resume. Plus I would think that based on how Orgeron handled the Matt Canada situation if Pelini does not earn his keep O will make a change. Have faith in the system that is developing at LSU!!

The bubble will eventually pop, but it hasn’t yet and if we want good coaches, we’ll have to play the game until the bubble does pop. But that aside, we get plenty of money from our TV deals with ESPN with more to come with CBS falling off. Money will never be a deterrent

what if his contract was for $100 million? That would affect the financial health of the program.

Would you care then?

Good question and yes it is. But he was the guy so you have to do what it takes. 2.2 is what it took.

He's won a NC as a DC. AU just paid Steele $2.5 million and he don't have any NC hardware. So to answer your question Hell No

2.3M of happiness divided by all the happy LSU fans that experienced a wonderful national championship run is just pennies.

Find something else to gripe about.

Let’s wait and see if he can replicate his defenses from 05,06,07. If he can he’s worth every penny.
