Question about current TOOL tour

I'm going to see them Wednesday at Bridgestone in Nashville. For those who have already seen them on this tour, did you have to turn in your phone prior to the show?
Have a friend who saw them in NYC and they had to give up their phone but have seen other videos from the current tour where everyone is filming, taking pictures, etc.
Just curious. Maybe it depends on the venue. I've never been to a show where I had to turn in my phone but I know that's more common these days.
TIA
ETA: Is there an opener? I thought I remembered seeing somewhere there was an opener. Just trying to figure out the best time to get there if I don't particularly care to see the opening band (if there is one).

No you don't have to turn in your phone, but at some venues if so much as check the time they kick you out.
They do let you pull them out for Stickfist though.

The opener is Author & Punisher, even if you don't care for the music it looks pretty interesting, an engineer guy who makes all his own instruments.

If you have VIP tickets you turn in your phone for soundcheck, but you get it back before your dismissed to your seats.

He just played Mid City Ballroom last night. I saw him a few years ago, kinda weird, not sure if I liked it.
Maynard has been known for throwing people out for using a phone. I've read about APC shows where a lot of people were thrown out so I wouldn't risk it. If you're one of those people who watches the entire show through your phone, you probably won't be there long.

I typically take a video or two at a show for songs that I really like but I don't think I'll take that chance here. First time ever seeing them. I don't want them to open with Prison Sex or something and I take a video and get tossed

You don't give your phone to anyone, because I don't think they can legally take your property from you. What they do is put your phone into a pouch that locks, you keep it with you and then when leaving they unlock it and you remove the phone from the pouch.
At least that's been my experience so far. It's fantastic too, because no longer do I need to tolerate having my vision blocked by douche bags who want to watch the concert through their phones just so they can post on social media "Hey look were I was tonight!" Too many people are more enamored with photojournaling the things they do than actually enjoying those things in the moment.
