Random thought, but very grateful for New Orleans getting to host a few weeks ago. Say what you want about New Orleans, but it is the perfect city to have a big football event because it is nearly impossible to make it "corporate" with Bourbon Street, relaxed open containers etc..
I'm a Chiefs fan and the thought of going to the suburbs of Miami for the Super Bowl sounds miserable in comparison.

Louisiana without NOLA is Mississippi.

The media and lots of people that went to Miami for the last super bowl really didn't care for it. Everything was so spread out so they had to drive all over for practices, parties, restaurants, meetings, and the game.
Nola is very good at hosting big events. They need to be in the rotation more often for super bowls, but the new $$$$ being spent on new stadiums is making it harder and harder.

In basically no other city could you come close to replicating a scene like a 100+ member alumni band marching through downtown and the French Quarter randomly/organically playing at various stops, with thousands of people out in the street along the way, the night before the game.
That’s just one example of what makes the setup and atmosphere of New Orleans so great for such events - even with all its flaws.
Sure they had all the corporate shite going on, but there was all kind of random/organic/non-corporate directed shite going on all over the place as well.
Seems like most other places do a crap job of balancing that, or barely have any room for anything organic at all.

No not a great analogy because without NOLA we still have LSU. So without NOLA it is more like Alabama which is almost as bad as a comparison to Mississippi, but Mississippi and Arkansas are on a level no one can go that low!

NOLA was all in for LSU and it was awesome. Geaux Tigers signs everywhere, buildings lit up in purple and gold, etc. The Alumni Band was fantastic. A big kudos to whomever got them together. Clemson fans described being in NOLA as being in hell because they were surrounded by LSU supporters at every turn.

quote:Clemson fan here. Attended both the National Championship and Sugar Bowl and had a great time. New Orleans is without a doubt the best city to host a big time game. For the most part LSU fans were friendly and inviting throughout the weekend and in the stadium during the game. Things got a little crazy after the game but those were mostly the college kids that were in bars all day. Congrats and enjoy being on top of the mountain

As Mr Williams said, America has only three cities: New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland.

If all the fans, media folks and NFL personnel involved with the Super Bowl were polled, the majority would prefer to have it in New Orleans on a shorter rotating basis, like every 4 years. Hopefully the 450 million dollar renovation to the Superdome will appease the NFL folks. Hosting a Super Bowl in places like Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Detroit and Meadowlands NJ makes no fuking sense other than "they have a brand new stadium" which shouldn't be a reason to even host one.

Was the Superbowl better for visiting fans when it was held in the now demolished Orange Bowl or some old boring, spread out shite?
