You think Mainieri inherited a rolls royce of a program? Ive seen something similar posted a few times over the last 24 hours. Dont know where that narrative is coming from

With a team that didmt make the tournament and had only a couple decent players coming back. A bunch of dont care attitudes and lack of good work ethic. Dude had us in omaha two years later. You can try to re-write history if you want, and he has his issues, but its pretty undeniable he rebuilt the program

Oogliegooglie won’t like this but I’m gonna support mainieri on this one. To be fair, he inherited a talent depleted roster save for Dean, Mitchell, Schimpf, Coleman and Ochinko.

He did a good job getting back in the hunt

I just feel like he’s gotten complacent in some respects

Not when Mainieri took over from Smoke Laval as head coach.

In Smoke's last season he only went 12-18 in the SEC and we didn't make the NCAA post-season.

The previous season, 2005, we were eliminated in our own regional by Rice, losing twice to the Owls.

In the 5 seasons Smoke was HC at LSU, we never won a single game in Omaha.

GTFOH with that "LSU was like Alabama in football when Mainieri took over." It's bullshite.
