I like the idea of having a 4 man front defensive line but the traditional 4-3 doesn't really appeal to me because of the wave of air raid/ spread offenses, i feel like a 4-2-5 is the best defense to line up in. 2 CB 2 safeties and a hybrid nickel DB.

Yeah, this is true.

I hope its a modernized 4-3 base - more multiple and dependent on down and personnel. If that is the case, I think we see something that could look more like 3-4.

There are 2 base D, the 4-3 and 3-4. This really depicts the number of players on the DL. The other sets such as nickel or dime and other formations are called called off of the base. You need some kind of base D to relate to make the calls very fast. In fact in a 4-3 you could make a call to use 3 DL, 2 LB and 6 DB depending on the down and situation.
