can someone tell me what happened here? I drive by that building every day and I'm interested in the details. obviously it's incredibly fricked up

Hard Rock Hotel construction collapsed on the morning of OCTOBER 12th. (That was the day of LSU Florida game--doesn't that seem like forever ago?)

In two short days, it will be 15 weeks since the accident.

Lots of mistakes in the building construction have already been discussed in the various links below.

A big accusation was that there wasn't proper spacing between supports (I think I saw the term "rebar" somewhere) for the concrete. Also, "existing" concrete wasn't allowed to cure before additional concrete was poured, adding to the weight that unfinished concrete had to endure. Many former workers claimed to have reported to supervisors that the work wasn't being done correctly. One man, Delmer Joel Ramirez Palma was deported and he was a survivor and witness to the collapse. Seems like a lot of cover up. W-P article on Palma

not that it matters but I didnt realize the man was a black man either...I just did a quick search of his name and also discovered he's was a registered sex offender as well.

What does your comment have to do with the fact that Wimberly's legs are dangling above N. Rampart Street and that he was crushed to death in a horrific unnecessary act of negligence????? If it didn't matter to you, why did you state "not that it matters?"

Regardless of how or why Wimberly got arrested, it has nothing to do with his present circumstances or his horrible death. Nor does his race.

This man was engaged to an NOPD detective, has a namesake, family, friends, etc. His obituary lists by name SIXTEEN relatives that presumably loved him and many other unnamed persons. The fact that you even brought up sex offender status of a dead man speaks volumes about you. QW Obituary

But because you brought this fact to light, I looked up the details. Said "carnal knowledge" of a juvenile happened in 2002 when Wimberly was 22 years old. His "victim" could have been a 16 year old (or younger) who lied about her age or could have had a pissed off parent who had him arrested when they found out their baby girl was bumping uglies. (How many times have you lied about your age to get something? Underage drinking comes to mind for me and my answer is countless.)

(FYI, this is the law on consent: There is no definite age of when a minor may consent to sex in Louisiana. Instead, it varies depending on a few factors, such as the age of both parties, and the age difference, if any, between them. In regards to the age difference, Louisiana is unique because it allows a larger age gap between younger minors than older minors. A person between the ages of 13 and 15 can consent to have sex with someone who is up to 3 years older than them, but a person between the ages of 15 and 17 may consent to sex only if the other person is 2 years older or less. For example, in terms of a 3 years age difference, a 13 year old can consent to sex with a person who is 16 years old, but a 15 year old may not consent to sex with a 18 year old. However, a person 17 or older can consent to have sex with a person of any age.)

Although it may appear so, I'm not defending the sex offender status inasmuch as I'm trying to point out that dead men cannot defend themselves and it was totally improper of you to bring up his race or anything negative about him. I hope he comes back and haunts you at night or pulls your toes (a "promise" my grandmother made to us all what she would do to us after she died.) I think your comment was crude, rude and unrefined. Respect the dead!!!!! Regardless of his past mistakes, he wasn't out cruising for children. He died while on the job.

Seems like that’s exactly what you’re doing, which is totally unnecessary when just asking someone to respect the deceased.

There could be many reasons why someone is on a sex offender list. I had a gay tenant who was on such a list because his ex accessed child porn from my tenant's internet server.

Wimberly's SO status should not be a part of this tragedy.

Whatever makes whoever feel better though, right?

Get angry at someone to mentioning deceased being a sex offender then write paragraphs about said sex offender

Why would you even respond?

Everyone is making fun of the protest today and saying how ridiculous.

A couple days ago people were saying NOLA residents should be in the streets demanding accountability from 'Toya.

I assumed a traditional conservative. Which I haven't seen a traditional conservative in a very long time.

Liberals pretty much killed traditional conservatives. I don't know if it was their long term plan, but damn it worked.

If you are anti-abortion, anti-gay, pro-gun, pro-prayer in school, christian, creationism, small government, balanced budget individual you have no team playing for you. Even Trump is far left of those ideals.
