The Black College National Championship

In Black College football the National Championship is played between the MEAC Champion vs SWAC Champion

That year Southern won the Heritage Bowl.

Now that bowl is called the Friendship bowl

They shared strictly because they’re an HBCU. LSU was ahead of the curve when it comes to being progressive

Man, you guys on this board must be REALLY young!

Yes, in January of 2004 LSU and Southern had a joint parade through downtown Baton Rouge celebrating BOTH teams national championships. I went to the parade with some friends of mine. At the end, they had a rally at the state capitol with BOTH bands and BOTH sets of dancing girls (Dancin' Dolls and Golden Girls). It was an AWESOME day! I'm surprised nobody's posted youtube video of it.

That was my favorite part. It was awesome for the city of Baton Rouge to do this. They set up bleachers for the bands if I remember correctly

For those of you too young to remember, here's a webpage off of WAFB's site, that's advertising the parade. The entire parade was broadcast on that channel and I have the parade on DVD because I set my DVD recorder to tape it while I was there.
