What does everyone think of Blair's calls...

Many feel he is outstanding. For me, he's just OK, but that's me. Seems from this video there are huge plays, and he lags behind the call and his comments. At some points, his lack of enthusiasm doesn't reflect what is going on in several big plays. I know, splitting hairs, but I am old enough to remember Ferguson as the Voice of LSU, and perhaps I am making that comparison. SO, just curious as to what others think.

He’s very “safe” with his calls...and does lag on purpose as do many radio announcers. But I think he’s pretty good for the most part.

Does well enough, but I do miss the homer element that most other teams have

He is learning and getting better every day. Let’s give him a chance, he hasn’t hit his prime yet

I think he is fine. I won't compare him to Ferguson and I still miss Hawthorne, but I am satisfied with Blair.

Polished. Gets names right. But not one of us.

Easy.
I still can’t get use to Chris..I’m not saying he’s bad, I just don’t hear the same passion in his voice. Maybe it’s just his voice that doesn’t do it for me, but it’s just my personal opinion.

I like him—Blair is professional Hawthorne was passionate

I like him a lot for baseball but I agree he is way too unenthusiastic for big football calls and doesn't sound like he has any emotional investment at all.

He's alright. He doesn't bring near the emotion that Hawthorne did. But he's ok I guess. I don't get excited to listen to him the way I did with Hawthorne. Plus he's not an "LSU guy".
Bottom line - no one will ever replace Jim Hawthorne.

I watched the championship calls and it sounded like he was calling an FCS game in September. Really bizarre.

If you listen to him the entire game for any sport he is better than Jim Hawthorne at the end of his career but Jim was better on big plays and the big calls. He just showed more emotion.
Chris Blair and John Brady for the basketball games is beautiful radio. That is a really tough job to do and they make it seem easy.

Blair gets better each year imo. He's always been a great voice, but now he's putting some emotion into it.

I think Blair does an adequate job... my only issue is that he sounds like most every generic national radio guy out there. Like, I could turn on any random nba or nfl game on ESPN radio and they all remind me of Blair.

I caught some of the championship game replay on the radio over the weekend and on the big Clemson reverse TD he basically called it like it was a 6 yard gain. On one of Burrow’s TD’s he called it like it was no big deal. Even the national guys who don’t care at all who wins show emotion during games. And waiting for a play to happen drives me nuts. Really hard to listen to when he’s waiting for a play to finish before calling it.
I’d rather have an enthusiastic home radio announcer that makes the occasion mistake than a guy who is not enthusiastic at all and is too worried about making mistakes than calling a game in realtime.

He is not a good fit. Hoping Woodward helps get him a promotion to MLB on tv, where he would be ideal. Get in it, Scott.

I know what you’re getting at but Hawthorne made more than the occasional mistake. He was abysmal.

I think after this magnificent season, he now "gets it" & will be supremely invested going forward.
