Rewatching the game and on that long TD pass to Chase, Marshall had beaten his man easily on the opposite side of the field and Joe had a TD on either option. Clemson brought both safeties up and left their corners on an island.

I have no clue why Clemson thought they could guard our WR's 1 v 1 without safety help. Struck me as strange.

Leaving Chase 1 on 1 was certainly a choice.

Venables had one plan and couldn't switch it up. And the plan was reckless as hell.

I saw Marshall open before Chase. It was a short throw to Chade , though.

Venables messed up thinking they could go man to man with our WRs.

Clemson decided early they were going to press and let those corners play physical and hold and make the officials call it. They got by with holding for most of the game. Eventually, the WR's just outclassed them and beat them anyway.

I think that Clemson was partly delusional. They did make LSU punt on the first three drives, no? I think their game plan was to pressure Burrow which they did do to some extent. Zone did not work so they went with the press coverage and well...just like every other defense it did not work.

Their was not a college defense in 2019 that was going to stop LSU. Auburn did the best, but LSU did have some miscues.

I said before that Clemson would not stop this offense to any practical extent. I assume that 42 points is proof enough of that claim.

Marshall was definitely the easier option, and was clear of his man sooner. Just goes to show how much confidence Burrow has had in Chase.

Poor Terrace Marshall.

Dude ALSO broke the single season reception TDs record, but just happened to be playing along side the biletnikoff winner and another dude that caught 18 TDs lol.

He's 3rd on the list the year he broke it. lol

Next year he's going to be playing with something to prove!!

Venables is going to do what he does and that's bring pressure. Most quarterbacks that aren't Burrow don't hit Chase under duress no matter how open he is. I also think Venables believed in his corners and was proven wrong time and time again.

That was because the previous play was a long run by CEH.
