Wife and I are planning trip to WDW in September. We like the new Riviera resort. We've never been to WDW before, and I read something about renting Disney Vacation Club points as a way to pay significantly less for lodging. Are there any DVC timeshare owners or people who've previously rented points before on here? Admittedly, I really don't understand the process. Thanks in advance.

We use dvc rental store. You can usually get any dvc resort you want 11-10 months out.

For sure. Also, people staying with DVC points don't have to pay for parking at the resorts. Keep that in mind when calculating how much you may be paying.

I am not sure if points from other resorts can be used at Riviera and vice versa. If you cant, it might be tougher to rent points there because it is new and many of the people that have points there will use them because it is there 1st chance.

In order to stay at the best DVC resorts you have to book early.

Dave's DVC is one of the best.

I've rented my points through David's Vacation Club Rentals in the past. Basically I tell them how many points I'm willing to rent out and they find a request that falls near that number of points. Once I agree to the request, they send the Resort Info, dates, and Guest Information and I make the reservation. Then I send them back the confirmation number so they can share with the guest.

David's I believe requires payment in full up front. They give me a percentage up front, but hold on to the remaining until the date of check-in to ensure that I hold the reservation and make any modifications that may be necessary.

It's pretty simple and painless. Just be careful because I believe David's is non-refundable for cancellations. I think the DVC rental store may have some refund options depending on when you cancel.
